Hi there! Welcome to our weekly roundup of the most interesting news surrounding Disney and the Orlando theme parks.
This week’s highlights:
-
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas -- at least over at the Jungle Cruise in Magic Kingdom Park -- which has been remade into the Jingle Cruise. Imagineers put the final touches in place last night for the makeover, which will feature seasonal jokes from a homesick crew and lots of fun decorations.
- Those of you lucky enough to attend the very first Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party of the season tonight can catch the new Jungle Cruise along with plenty of other holiday cheer. Here's our guide to this year's parties in case you missed it.
-
If you weren't already feeling the Christmas cheer just yet, maybe this will inspire you. New Fantasyland has been decorated for the holidays for the very first time! We think it's quite beautiful.
- For those of you who are already thinking of next year, Miss Piggy and Kermit are getting the full-on topiary treatment at Epcot International Flower & Garden Show for the first time! Congratulations, Kermey (as Miss P. likes to call him) -- we always get so excited a fellow frog is being recognized for his or her achievements!
- After a few months' hiatus, TNA Wrestling is coming back to Universal Studios, albeit in a new studio near Blue Man Group. Wrestling fans can catch the live tapings Nov. 21, 22 and 23 for free.
-
The Times Square Disney Store was “Frozen” over this week in a dramatic makeover themed to the launch of the new Disney animated movie, coming to theaters Nov. 20.
-
Speaking of Disney films, “Thor: The Dark World,” which opened today is receiving mostly positive reviews, including this one from Orlando Attractions.
-
One of my favorite pieces of news comes out of SeaWorld Orlando, which has launched a 24-7 live cam from Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, so people (and frogs) near and far can keep tabs on the 250 penguins as they waddle around. There are also turtles and stingrays at AnimalVision.com.
- Get ready to do more shopping at Downtown Disney, one of my favorite pastimes! The entertainment district is adding a Marketplace Co Op in early 2014 that will add several shops within a shop focused on one Disney product concept.
That’s all for this week. Have a great weekend!
