Overview of the Philadelphia Flyers
The first of the expansion teams in the post-Original Six era to win the Stanley Cup, the Philadelphia Flyers have played their home games on Broad Street since their inception. Historically, their biggest rivalries have been with the New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals, New Jersey Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins (considered by many to be the best rivalry in the league).
Currently, the Flyers hold the third-best all-time points percentage in the NHL, following closely behind the Vegas Golden Knights and Montreal Canadiens. They also have the most appearances in the conference finals of all 24 expansion teams and are second behind the St. Louis Blues for the most playoff appearances out of all expansion teams. The last time they made the playoffs was in the 2019-20 season — entering the postseason "bubble" in Toronto as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. Since May 2023, they've hired a new president of hockey operations and named a new general manager.
