Overview of the Phoenix Open

The WM Phoenix Open is one of the very first annual events on the PGA Tour calendar. The tournament consists of four rounds (one round each day) with 18 holes each. The player with the lowest number of strokes after all rounds wins. Throughout the weeklong event, there's also a variety of special entertainment including concerts and the Annexus Pro-Am — a single-day tournament featuring pro golfers and amateur players (typically well-known celebrities).

When Is the Phoenix Open?

The WM Phoenix Open takes place in late January or early February every year and has occurred over the same weekend as the NFL Super Bowl since 1973. The 2024 WM Phoenix Open officially begins Feb. 8, with the final round taking place Feb. 11, 2024. The first two rounds on Feb. 8 and 9 begin at 7:30 a.m., while the third and fourth rounds on Feb. 10 and 11 kick off at 9 a.m. Gates open at 7 a.m. every day.

During the week leading up to the tournament’s official start, fans can celebrate with a “Concert in the Coliseum.” This year, the concert took place on Feb. 3, and Post Malone performed his greatest hits. On Feb. 5 and 6, fans can watch practice rounds for free. The Annexus Pro-Am takes place on Feb. 7.

The Coors Light Birds Nest entertainment tent hosts musical guests from Wednesday through Saturday evenings. Here's the 2024 lineup of entertainment:

Where Is the Phoenix Open?

Every year, the Phoenix Open is hosted at TPC Scottsdale, specifically on the Stadium Course, in Scottsdale, AZ.

A popular spot for spectators, the par-3 16th hole on the Stadium Course is the only fully enclosed hole on the PGA Tour. Nicknamed “The Coliseum,” the grandstands that surround it can fit a capacity of 20,000 fans, which is often described as a big party and "the loudest hole in golf."

What to Know Before You Go

  • This year, there's a new entry point into the tournament. Just keep an eye out and follow the signage.
  • General parking (with shuttle service to the gates) is free in select areas: Lot A (Westworld), Lot B (Salt River Fields) and Lot C (Westworld Sports Complex). Lot R is for ride-sharing services and is located at Bell94 Sports Complex.
  • There is a bag policy — no opaque bags larger than 6" x 6" x 6" (including carrying cases, backpacks, camera bags or chair bags) are permitted through the gates. No clear, plastic, vinyl or other carry items larger than 12" x 6" x 12" are permitted through the gates. • Visit the Phoenix Open website for the event map that includes info on parking, hospitality venues, concessions and more.
  • Wear green for Saturday’s #GREENOUT. For every fan, volunteer and service animal who wears green – even the players and caddies – the tournament hosts, the Thunderbirds, and the title sponsor, WM, will donate money to non-profit organizations with a sustainability focus.
