Seattle Kraken Team Overview
Seattle is no stranger to ice hockey. The Seattle Metropolitans played in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association from 1915 to 1924 — even winning the Stanley Cup in 1917. Then the Seattle Totems came along and played for the Pacific Coast Hockey League-turned-Western Hockey League from 1944 to 1974. Most recently, in December 2018, the NHL approved a proposal by Seattle Hockey Partners to grant an expansion franchise to the city of Seattle. Enter the Kraken.
Despite struggles in their inaugural season, the Kraken turned things around last year and became one of the league's best stories. In January 2023, they became the first team in NHL history to win all seven games of a road trip. Just three months later, they clinched a playoff spot for the first time in franchise history after a win against the Arizona Coyotes. One of the fastest teams in the league, they ended the season with an impressive record of 46-28-8.
