Spring Travel Tips for a Theme Park Vacation

by Mommy Frog on January 20, 2012

Are you planning a springtime theme park vacation? From rainy days to homework, here are five helpful tips for traveling during the spring.

1. Choose the best ticket for the season.

The Frog Family chooses the Park Hopper + Water Park Fun & More ticket Typhoon Lagoonfor Disney and the FlexTicket or FlexTicket Plus for Universal Orlando for our spring theme park vacations. They give us the most flexibility at the best price and include the awesome water parks like Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Aquatica and Wet 'n Wild.

Learn about the Water Park Fun & More ticket here.

Here's an overview of the Orlando-area water parks.

2. Be prepared for rainy day.

Don't let a little rain stop the fun. Choose a park with plenty of indoor attractions and covered areas like Magic Kingdom and Epcot, throw on a poncho and let the good times continue. For more ideas on what to do if the weather isn't cooperating, read It's Raining, It's Pouring - Rainy Day Ideas (blog).

3. Don't forget the school work.

Unlike summer vacations when school is the last thing on your kids’ minds, there isn’t a study break during spring break. Leap and I communicate with Tad and Lily’s teachers a few weeks before a spring break vacation to make sure they get a head-start on any special projects that will be assigned over the break.

4. Plan a Friday afternoon or Saturday morning departure.Epcot

Theme park vacations are not exactly relaxing, in fact, they’re downright exhausting. Give yourself and your kids a day or two to rest before everyone heads back to school and work. I know you’re probably thinking about how much more fun you could squeeze in that Saturday and how everyone will be OK come Monday morning, but trust me on this one.

5. Travel with teenagers in peace.

Spring Break stands out as a popular time for teenagers to visit the theme parks with their parents so I consulted the experts (my niece and nephew) for their best advice. From letting them keep use their smart phones to scheduling a "sleep-in day", I learned a lot.

Happy Planning,

Keep hopping, Mommy Frog!
