St. Louis Cardinals Team Overview
The St. Louis Cardinals have always been a force to be reckoned with. They're the winners of 19 National League pennants (the third most of any team behind the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers) and 15 division titles in both the East and Central divisions. In their 140+ year history, many of their players have accomplished incredible achievements, such as infielder Rogers Hornsby's two batting Triple Crowns, pitcher Dizzy Dean's 30-win season, outfielder Stan Musial's 17 MLB and 19 NL records and first baseman Mark McGwire's single-season home run record. Renowned for their strong fan support, the Cardinals routinely see attendances among the league's highest and are consistently among the top three in MLB in local television ratings.
After missing the postseason for the first time since the 2018 season, the Cardinals are gearing up for a comeback. They laid the groundwork for their offseason plans early on — signing on Sonny Gray in November who's coming off one of the best years in his career with the Minnesota Twins, among others. The offense they already have in place with second baseman Nolan Gorman and catcher Wilson Contreras also has the potential to carry the team to the postseason when firing on all cylinders.
