On May 1, 2025, nominations for the 78th Annual Tony Awards were announced. In a year filled with theatrical adaptations of TV shows ("Smash", "Stranger Things: The First Shadow,") movies ("Real Women Have Curves: The Musical," "Death Becomes Her") the lives of famous singers ("A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical," "Just in Time") and even real historical events ("Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical," "Floyd Collins"), this was a Broadway season for the books.
