While I'm a big fan of all types of theme park attractions, I can't deny how much I love roller coasters. Today just so happens to be National Roller Coaster Day and we're celebrating with this list of our favorite 9 roller coasters (in no particular order)! From Universal Orlando to Knott's Berry Farm, it doesn't matter where these coasters are located—we just love their loops, twists , drops and thrills.
The Frog Family's 9 Favorite Roller Coasters
1. Incredible Hulk Coaster® - Universal's Islands of Adventures®
This was one of our favorites even before it got a sweet renovation this year! You literally feel as if you're on an incredible adventure with the Hulk. The coaster blasts through a tunnel filled with mist and it's all loops and dives from there! The Incredible Hulk Coaster also reaches top speeds of 67 mph and has a zero gravity roll. Incredible!
2. Rock 'n Roller Coaster® Starring Aerosmith - Disney's Hollywood Studios®
Talk about the sweet emotions you get after riding this coaster! The Rock 'n Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios also reaches some fast speeds. And not to mention it's in the dark with Aerosmith tunes as the soundtrack! I always have to ride this one at least three times on our Disney trips. Check out our video here!
3. Xcelerator - Knott's Berry Farm
Xcelerator has some SERIOUS acceleration, reaching a top speed of 82 mph in 2.3 seconds! This steel roller coaster launches you straight down 90 degrees. It's definitely not for the faint of heart! It's only a little over one minute long, but the thrill sticks with you longer after you experience Xcelerator.
4. Mako™ - SeaWorld® Orlando
This is the newest attraction at SeaWorld Orlando, and it's already one of my favorites! It boasts the title of being Orlando's tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster. Much like the fearless shark it's named after, Mako is terrifying and adventurous, reaching a height of 200 feet and plenty of weightless air time!
5. The RIDDLER'S Revenge - Six Flags Magic Mountain
How do you make a roller coaster even more insane? By standing up during the ride, of course! On The RIDDLER'S Revenge, you actually stand up throughout the entire ride. You soar 156 feet into the sky at 65 mph and experience 4.2 G's. It's a unique roller coaster to say the least! See it for yourself!
6. Kumba - Busch Gardens® Tampa Bay
Kumba is one of my absolute favorites! The roller coasters starts off with a thrilling 135 foot drop and follows up with 3 seconds of complete weightlessness. What's a roller coaster without some airtime?!
7. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - Magic Kingdom® Park
This coaster isn't one of the scariest, but it's still one of the best, in my opinion! The theme is outstanding and entertaining; we always love venturing through the canyons and caves of Big Thunder Mountain. It's a not-to-miss at Magic Kingdom® Park!
8. California Screamin' - Disney California Adventure® Park
Another Disney roller coaster, California Screamin' is a classic steel coaster that speeds up to 65 mph! It loops and turns, and even has special "scream tubes" on various parts of the tracks. My dad and I never miss a chance to ride California Screamin'! Check it our for yourself here!
Last, but definitely not least, is the jammin' Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. Aside from climbing 17 stories above Universal Studios and reaching 65 mph, the roller coaster actually allows you to make your own music video!
And that's a wrap on some of my favorite coasters! What's your favorite roller coaster? Let us know in the comments below and Happy National Roller Coaster Day!
