7 Disney World Attractions Not to Skip at Night

by Tad on December 16, 2015 2   Video

One of the upsides to visiting Disney World during busier times, like the summer and holidays, is longer park hours. For you night owls, it gives you more time to enjoy the parks, and often crowds are lower in those nighttime hours. If you're staying on-site and can experience a park during evening EMH, the crowds will be even less. Plus, some of the rides are so much cooler at night. That's what we're here to talk about today.

Now, the rides at Disney World are a blast no matter what time of day. But there are some rides that are even more awesome once the sun goes down! From Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to Test Track, there are a few standout Disney rides that offer an entirely different feel at night. Here are the best nighttime Disney World attractions you've got to try on your next visit!

My Favorite Nighttime Disney World Attractions

1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom)

This mine train ride through the Wild West is even more wild at night!  It's also pretty cool if you ride during Wishes for an alternate view of the fireworks.

2. Jungle Cruise (Magic Kingdom)

This one gets a little spooky at nighttime with all the wild animals! It makes you feel even more like you're on an adventure floating through the jungle.

3. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Disney's Hollywood Studios)

Yes, this is an indoor ride, but when the elevator drops, you get a glimpse of the outside. When it's dark out, it's way cool! Plus, this haunted hotel seems to get more creepy once the sun goes down.

4. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom)

We love this little whipper of a roller coaster and partial dark ride that takes you inside the mountain where the Seven Dwarfs are hard at work. At night, the coaster offers views of surrounding Fantasyland, Beast's Castle and Cinderella's too!

5. Test Track (Epcot)

While most of this track ride is inside, once you put your concept car to a series of handling and safety tests, you head outdoors for the high-speed portion of the ride.

6. Astro Orbiter (Magic Kingdom)

Of course this is one of the best nighttime Disney World attractions! All the lights twinkle and you feel like you're soaring among the stars and planets. Also, the views of Tomorrowland are out of this world!

7. Splash Mountain (Magic Kingdom)

The 52-foot high drop on Splash Mountain is even more exciting when you're dropping into the cool night air! Since most people want to experience Splash Mountain during the heat of day, crowds are often much lower at night.

Disney World always seems just a little bit cooler at night, and these rides are no exception. What are your favorite nighttime Disney World attractions? Tell us about 'em in the comments below!

Stay cool!

Keep hopping, Tad!

Once you use your three fast pass+ selections, can you make another selection for a different park from the app? Or do you physically have to be in that park using a kiosk?

Hi Julie,

You have to physically be in the park you want to make additional FastPasses for. You can read more about it in our Guide to FastPass+.

Keep hopping!
