Overview of the US Open Tennis Championship
The US Open always starts on the last Monday of August and continues for two weeks. The middle weekend falls during the Labor Day holiday. The annual event is organized by the United States Tennis Association (USTA).
There are five primary championships in the US Open Tennis Championship:
- Men's singles
- Women's singles
- Men's doubles
- Women's doubles
- Mixed doubles
The US Open tournament also includes events for senior, junior and wheelchair players.
US Open Location
The US Open is located in Queens, New York, at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. There are a few different stadiums where events take place. The Arthur Ashe Stadium is the main stadium, with seating for over 23,000 fans. The Louis Armstrong Stadium is a 14,000-seat tennis stadium. Both of those have a cover in case of rain. The Grandstand Stadium has a seating capacity of just over 8,000.
