The Washington Nationals franchise actually began as the Montreal Expos in 1969, the first Major League team based in Canada. The team would move to their current city in 2005. Now based in Washington D.C., the Nats play their home games at Nationals Park and participate in the National League East Division. Did you know the Nationals' mascot is a bald eagle named Screech?
The team had great success in the 2010s, winning four of the franchise's five division titles. They won the World Series in 2019, upsetting the Houston Astros 4-3. Heading into 2024, general manager Mike Rizzo and team look to improve their division standing and return to the postseason.
