Blur became British pop stars thanks to their No. 8 single "There's No Other Way", sliding into a prominent spot in the pseudo-psychedelic guitar pop known as Madchester. They adopted an ideological, image and musical shift in the mid-'90s, leading the way for a new sound dubbed Brit-pop to contrast themselves from the American grunge scene. Masters of reinventing their sound, Blur transitioned again to an art-pop band in the late '90s, pulling from indie rock and somber lo-fi sounds to lead to even bigger American success.
