Grammy-winning Columbian singer, songwriter and actor Carlos Vives got his first taste of fame as an actor with his title role of Gallito Ramírez and though he released multiple albums, failed to gain any traction in the music world. After being cast in a role that would have him playing and singing as a vallenato composer in Escalona, Vives found his calling helping vallenato break into the global mainstream by blending it with pop and rock. This Latin pop star has collaborated with some of the biggest names in Latin music including Ricky Martin for "Canción Bonita", Shakira for "La Bicicleta" and Daddy Yankee for "Nota de Amor".
