Chicago Fire FC is a Major League Soccer (MLS) soccer club based in Chicago, Illinois. Their home matches are played at Soldier Field, which they share with the city's National Football League (NFL) team, the Chicago Bears. Named in memory of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, the club was established in 1997 on the Great Fire's 126th anniversary. The team began competing in the MLS in 1998 as one of the league's first expansion teams. In their first season, Chicago Fire FC achieved a “double” by winning both the MLS Cup and US Open Cup in the same year.
