New Zealand-born Australian-American singer, guitarist and songwriter Keith Urban is synonymous with country music. Playing guitar from the age of six, Urban moved to Nashville in 1992 to pursue his country star dreams. Playing guitar and co-writing at first with big names like Toby Keith and Garth Brooks, Urban released his own self-titled debut album in 1999 that showcased his talent and won him the Top New Male Vocalist Award at the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards and the 2001 Country Music Association's Horizon Award. His rock and roll approach helped to transition country music in the '90s, with guitar-centric rifts and lyrically melodic hooks that have earned him four Grammy Awards and 15 Academy of Country Music Awards.
