Widely recognizable and iconic 1970s glam rock band KISS formed in 1971 when Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley split from their former band Wicked Lester to take a new musical direction. While their initial albums were not immediately hits, the band's shocking use of spitting "blood", "breathing fire" and incorporating other clever pyrotechnic tricks throughout their show helped them to sell out venues and make them a buzz-worthy, must-see act.
