FROG FAMILY REVIEW
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel*

What we love

  • Exclusive theme park benefits, including Early Entry into one park each day of your stay with valid park admission
  • Special hotel entrance directly into Disney California Adventure Park for all Disney Resort Hotel guests
  • Resort hotel guests get priority reservations for select restaurants and experiences, including Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Anna & Elsa's Boutique, Blue Bayou and Carthay Circle Restaurant (no more than 60 days and no fewer than 2 days in advance of your arrival)
  • Craftsman-style hotel reflects the grandeur of Northern California's early 20th Century Arts and Crafts era
  • 190-foot Redwood Pool slide is designed around the stump of a fallen redwood
  • Tadpoles can go on a scavenger hunt inside the hotel
  • On-site Tenaya Stone Spa offers signature spa services including massages and body treatments
  • Breakfast with Disney princesses at Storytellers Cafe
  • Award-winning Napa Rose restaurant makes a romantic date-night destination
  • Some standard rooms sleep up to 5 adults
  • Abutting the Downtown Disney District that offers shopping and dining

Keep in Mind

  • With only three Disney Parks Hotels, availability is limited and prices reflect that
  • As the grande dame of the Disneyland hotels, it is one of the priciest hotels—if not the priciest hotel—in Anaheim
  • Some rooms do not have a sleeper chair or trundle bed, so it may be beneficial to book an additional room as requests are not guaranteed
  • Standard occupancy is two (2) adults, so extra occupancy fees may apply if booking with more adults
  • The hotel charges $35 ($40 for oversized vehicles) per night for self-parking
  • The hotel charges $50 per night for valet parking

Notable Facts

  • The reception area is based on the interior of the Swedenborgian Church in San Francisco
  • The hotel was designed by Peter Dominick, who also designed Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • It was inspired by the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park and The Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park

Frog Family Tips

  • Use the dedicated hotel entrance to Disney California Adventure Park to get over to Radiator Springs Racers—the most popular ride in the park!
  • Take a tour of the Arts and Crafts artifacts in the lobby and dining areas during an hour-long tour
  • Budget at least an hour to an hour and a half if you take Disneyland transportation from LAX
  • Request a higher floor for less potential noise from foot traffic

Best For

  • Families who want the ultimate Disneyland experience, who have young children and/or plan to come back to the hotel for breaks from the parks, and who want to be as close to California Adventure as possible

Disney will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all Guests to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Immediately after receiving your hotel reservation confirmation, visit StartYourDisneylandExperience.com to make your Theme Park Reservation.

Important information to know before you go:

  • You can check-in online before you arrive at the hotel to save time, while also promoting physical distancing (you can even check-in online up to five (5) days in advance!). A link to use the online check-in service will be emailed to guests before their visit. If they don’t have a Disney account, they’ll need to create one at Disneyland.com to get started. If you sign up for text services, you’ll receive a text message when your room is ready.
  • For easy and contactless payments throughout their stay, guests can pay for purchases at Disney-operated locations throughout the Resort using their hotel room key with a valid credit card on file.
  • For the most up-to-date health and safety information and precautions check here.
  • Planning to visit a theme park? To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid theme park ticket, for the same park on the same date, are required. Keep in mind: a hotel reservation does not guarantee theme park access (though Disney Hotel Guests do have access to a separate pool), and you’ll need a Disney account to make a separate theme park reservation. Prior to booking, be sure to view theme park reservation availability as park reservations are limited in availability and not guaranteed. You can check the reservation availability here.

Face coverings are optional but recommended for Guests in all indoor locations. Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and older), regardless of vaccination status, in certain indoor health settings, such as in First Aid.
