Miami-based hip-hop group ¡MAYD∀Y! was formed in 2003 when MC and rapper Bernbiz and producer and keyboardist Plex Luthor thought it would be fun to collaborate. Their 2004 song “Quicksand” became an underground hit and led to a deal with SouthBeat Records. Able to better accentuate their sound, the group released their viral YouTube video “Groundhog Day”, breaking the site’s record for views in 48 hours and grabbing the attention of media outlets, and released their self-titled debut album in 2006.
