Formed in 1992, punk rock band MxPx had a stereotypical start performing first out of frontman Mike Herrera’s parents’ backyard and garage. The band was soon playing on Vans Warped Tour alongside heavy hitters like Blink-182, My Chemical Romance and Pennywise and touring with Bad Religion, NOFX, Good Charlotte and more. Though they spent many years tied to major labels, the band returned to their do-it-yourself (DIY) roots for their 2018 self-titled album that they funded fully on Kickstarter. Originally classified as Christian punk, the band incorporated elements of skate punk and hardcore punk in their early years before adopting more pop-influenced hook with their fast-paced songs. Their songs have been featured in movies, television shows and video games and MxPx ended up being one of the most influential bands of the pop-punk movement.
