A team must advance through multiple rounds of single-elimination play, typically winning four (4) consecutive games to qualify for the Final Four.

The Women's Final Four is usually played prior to the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four. Only one team has ever played the Final Four on their home court, making it unlikely that a team will play on their home court in the future.
