New York City FC (NYCFC) is a Major League Soccer (MLS) soccer club based in New York City. Established in 2013, the team played its first MLS game in 2015. They are the second MLS team to be based in the New York Metropolitan area and the club has an inter-city rivalry with the New York Red Bulls with whom they compete in the Hudson River Derby each year. Their home matches are played at Yankee Stadium, home to the famed Major League Baseball (MLB) team the New York Yankees. The club will often play home games at other locations such as Citi Field and Red Bull Arena and have plans for their own soccer-specific stadium to open in 2027.

NYCFC won the 2021 MLS Cup and then became the first New York team to win an international trophy in 2022 with the Campeones Cup.
