James Earl Jones Theatre

138 West 48th Street, New York, NY

The James Earl Jones Theatre is the only surviving and active Broadway theater designed by architect Thomas Lamb. Nestled into the Theater District of New York City, the theater was originally named the Cort Theatre for John Cort, who helped pave the way for the American theater scene. Upon reopening in 2022 post-renovations, it was dubbed the James Earl Jones Theatre to honor the iconic Black actor.

The eye-catching neoclassical façade made of marble delights theater patrons as they arrive and each of the 1,092 seats provides great sightlines to the stage from the orchestra or balconies. Both the façade and interior are also designated New York City landmarks! Since reopening with its new name, the theater has been hosting several frogtastic productions, including the award-winning revival of the play “The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window”.
