What we love
- Beautiful Victorian-style architecture
- Direct Access to Magic Kingdom® Park by walking path, monorail, or boat taxi
- Rooms are some of the largest in all of Walt Disney World® Resort; most sleep up to five
- The most luxurious standard rooms on property, with hardwoods and marble in the bathrooms, and elegance all round
- Multiple table-service options, including the AAA Five Diamond-awarded Victoria & Albert's
- On-site character breakfast and dinner dining at 1900 Park Fare
- 24-hour dining via room service and the quick-service Gasparilla Grill
- Live music in the lobby, including an orchestra in the evenings
- Beach Pool features a gently sloping entry similar to that of a natural beach, a splash area for little ones
- Quiet pool is the largest on property, and includes a whirpool and kiddie pool
- A full-service spa and health club in a Victorian-themed setting offering massages and body treatments, plus a full-service salon
- Few parking lot views; most rooms overlook the beautiful grounds, with some water and Magic Kingdom® Park views
- Free parking!
Keep in Mind
- Hotel charges $39 per night (sales tax included) for valet parking
- Proximity to Magic Kingdom® Park and world-class amenities make Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa the most expensive hotel on property
- Transportation time to other parks can be longer
- More traffic from non-hotel guests than any other property
- Families coming to and from the theme park are as welcomed as those dressed to the nines, which you will see, especially in the evenings
- On-site convention center brings in some business travelers
- Shared bus service to Disney's Hollywood Studios® and Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park
- Concierge-level rooms are in the main building and Sugarloaf; main building rooms are more expensive
Notable Facts
- Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa was modeled after the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego
- Many of the resort hotel's buildings are named after islands in the Keys
- The Beach Boys filmed the video for "Kokomo" at the hotel in 1988, and incidentally were the hotel's first guests
- Big Bertha, a band organ built in Paris and used in a theme park in Grand Rapids, Mi., plays at 1900 Park Fare
Frog Family Tips
- Request a standard room in the Big Pine Key building to be closest to the quiet pool; rooms in Conch Key are closest to boat transportation (not all requests are guaranteed)
- Book reservations for Victoria & Albert's a full 60 days in advance of check-in for the best chance at getting a table, especially if you want a seat at the coveted Chef's Table, which offers only one seating for 10 each evening
- Take the monorail to Magic Kingdom® Park, but consider the boat ride back as it's the first stop before heading to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
- Expand your dining options with a short walk to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
- To visit Epcot®, you'll need to take the monorail to Transportation and Ticket Center and then transfer to the Epcot® monorail
Best For
- Families looking for an elegant but still kid-friendly Disney experience, with an abundance of amenities, upscale and casual dining, and direct monorail access to Magic Kingdom® Park
