Originally known as On a Friday when they formed at their Oxfordshire school, Radiohead performed their eighth gig and immediately signed on to a six-album recording contract. While receiving poor initial reception in the UK, Israeli and U.S. fans were formed with the 1992 single "Creep". Radiohead's experimental influence on the alternative music scene of the 1990s and 2000s was cemented with the release of their album OK Computer and the year-long Against Demons world tour that followed in 1997. Radiohead's sound pulls elements from multiple genres but they are best known for layering unique computer-generated sounds to add complex progressive and psychedelic themes to their art-rock base.
