Split into three acts, Verdi’s heartbreaking masterpiece "Rigoletto" returns, with reigning Verdi baritone Quinn Kelsey reprising his devastating portrayal of the hunchbacked court jester. Based on the 1832 play "Le roi s'amuse" by Victor Hugo, "Rigoletto" is considered an operatic masterpiece portraying a tragic love story. Radiant soprano Nadine Sierra plays the naïve daughter, Gilda, and tenor Stephen Costello is the rakish Duke of Mantua. Maestro Pier Giorgio Morandi takes the podium to conduct Bartlett Sher’s Weimar-inspired production. A second run of performances (beginning January 6, 2025) features the Met debut of rising tenor Pene Pati, alongside soprano Erin Morley and baritone Luca Salsi, conducted by Maurizio Benini.
