American rapper and singer Rod Wave jumped into the limelight with the release of his mixtape PTSD, which included the viral and charting song “Heart on Ice”. Named part of XXL's 2020 Freshman Class, Wave has received recognition for his "candor and shrewd ability to tug at listeners' heartstrings", compared to the likes of a screenwriter while switching between a scruffy rap and sweet singing tune all within the same line.
