The first stop for many families is the city’s most famous park, Falls Park, which includes a suspension bridge above some of the waterfalls that give the park its name. Thrill-seeking frogs can hop over to Palisades State Park for rock climbing, leap up to Great Bear Recreation Park for skiing, snowboarding and tubing and splash into water sports at Catfish Bay. See which animals are enjoying the beautiful outdoors as well at the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History. Tadpoles love watching butterflies land on them and meeting fascinating ocean life in the touch pools at Butterfly House & Aquarium.

Check out Washington Pavilion, a former high school in downtown now operates as a massive entertainment complex that features Broadway shows at Husby Performing Arts Center, the interactive Kirby Science Discovery Center, a planetarium and the Wells Fargo CineDome. As you leave the Washington Pavilion, take some time to stroll among the 65 sculptures that line the streets to create SculptureWalk and don’t froget to see the larger-than-life bronze casting of Michelangelo’s statue of David overlooking the river. For seasonal country fair-style fun, head just outside of town to the Country Apple Orchard with apple picking, a petting zoo, hay rides and more!
