The story of a traveling preacher's wife who beamed into homes with a message of hope that stole the country's heart, "Tammy Faye" comes to Broadway to give life to the beloved American evangelist in a way only a musical can.
As satellites broadcast brand-new cable programming into American homes in the 1970s, millions of Americans are introduced to Tammy Faye Bakker, the charismatic wife of pastor Jim Bakker. Together, they build a nationwide congregation that puts the fun back into faith while preaching love and light for all. But, even as Tammy dazzles on screen, jealous rivals plot behind the scenes, threatened by her determination to lead with love.
Reprising her celebrated West End performance, the divine cast is led by two-time Olivier Award winner Katie Brayben playing Tammy Faye, two-time Tony Award® winner Christian Borle playing Jim Bakker and two-time Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris as Jerry Falwell. Elton John returns to the Palace Theatre with a joyful and deliriously fun score accompanied by lyrics from Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears. Based on a book by Olivier Award-winning playwright James Graham and directed by Olivier Award winner Rupert Goold, "Tammy Faye" shines a sparkling light on the generous, loving, often lonely soul behind the illustrious lashes.
Age Restrictions: Recommended for ages 16 and up. Children under the age of four (4) are not permitted in the theatre.
