Formed as a side project by Kim Deal of Pixies and Tanya Donelly of Throwing Muses in 1989, The Breeders is an alternative rock band from Ohio that have been referred to as “the Bangles from Hell”. While their first album, Pod, captured the attention of some indie rock fans, including Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, their breakthrough success followed the release of their second album, Last Splash. Led by hit single "Cannonball," the album helped the band become one of the biggest acts of the early-1990s alternative rock scene.
