After busking and touring for six years, The Chicks finally landed a record label deal and saw mainstream success with their 1998 album, Wide Open Spaces. Formally a predominately bluegrass band and named The Dixie Chicks, The Chicks play an impressive range of instruments including guitar, accordion, five-string banjo, viola, mandolin, fiddle and more while all three members also provide vocals. Now leaning into a more contemporary rock and blues sound, The Chicks have been the recipients of 13 Grammy Awards and are one of the best-selling all-woman bands of this era.
