Journey to a mythical land between the sun and the moon at The Metropolitan Opera with the family-friendly production of Mozart's dazzling fairy tale, "The Magic Flute". Composed by musical prodigy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, "The Magic Flute" ("Die Zauberflöte" in the original German) was written to be enjoyed and experienced by audiences from all walks of life.
Returning to the Met, this abridged, English-language production comes to us from Julie Taymor, the Tony Award–winning director of Broadway’s "The Lion King". With dazzling puppets, a colorful setting and a song-play, musical-like format, the Met's "The Magic Flute" is a beloved holiday tradition and the perfect medium for a fantastical fairy tale that jumps between comedy and mysticism.
Run Time: One (1) hour and 55 minutes, with no intermission
Prior to the December 14 performance, children and families are welcome to join the Met's Holiday Open House. The Open House is free to all ticketholders for the December 14 performance.
