Vancouver Whitecaps FC is a Major League Soccer (MLS) soccer club based in Vancouver, British Columbia that competes in the Western Conference. Replacing a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) team of the same name, this phoenix team began play in the MLS in 2011. Home matches are played at BC Place, which the club shares with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Caps made history in the 2012 season when it became the first Canadian team to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs. They have won the Canadian Championship multiple times and regularly compete against longtime Pacific Northwest rivals Seattle Sounders FC and Portland Timbers in the Cascadia Cup.
