A Quick Guide to the Disney Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket

by Mommy Frog on February 23, 2017 281

Mommy Frog's Note: Walt Disney World has stopped selling the Water Park Fun & More Ticket and will no longer offer a water park option with Magic Your Way. It has a new similar Park Hopper Plus Option that allows park hopping and visits to the Disney water parks.

We frogs love nothing more than splashing around the pond on a sunny, summer day. Leap sometimes goes all out and creates his own impromptu water slide out of an oversized banana leaf, so Tad and Lily can splash about when it's too hot to do anything else. Of course, we still love visiting a real water park, especially in Orlando, where it's summer practically year-round. Even in winter, at least one of the Disney water parks is open and all of its the pools are heated. So no matter when you plan to visit, there is Disney water park fun waiting for you. The best thing is that adding on the Disney water parks is quite reasonable from a cost perspective. Disney has introduced a new ticket type, the Park Hopper Plus Option, that includes the water parks ... and more. Disney's Water Park Fun & More Ticket has been discontinued. Disney Water Park Fun and More Ticket - Disney Water Park - Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

Guide to Disney Park Hopper Plus Option

Admissions & 'Plus Visits'

The Disney Park Hopper Plus Option allows you admission to one or more of the four main parks (Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney’s Hollywood Studios® and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park) for the number of days on your ticket. It also includes the same number of Plus Visits, which are admissions to ...

  • Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park
  • Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
  • One round of golf at Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course (tee time reservations required and subject to availability)
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports (some events require additional admission, valid only on event days)
  • Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course (one mini golf visit per day before 4:00 p.m.; cannot be used on the same day as Disney's Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course)
  • Disney's Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course (one mini golf visit per day before 4:00 p.m.; cannot be used on the same day as Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course)

Value of Disney's Park Hopper Plus Option

Disney Water Park Fun and More Ticket - Disney Water Park - Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

As the Frog Family CFO, I’m always looking for the best value, so let’s do the math on the Disney water parks savings …

A current 5-Day Park Hopper adult ticket from Undercover Tourist is $446.95 (including tax)*. A single day adult Disney Water Park ticket is $66.03. For five days hopping at the main theme parks and one day at a water park, your total cost would be $512.98. A 5-Day Park Hopper Plus Option adult ticket from Undercover Tourist is $483.24* and includes five days hopping in the theme parks and five plus visits. (A 5-Day Water Park Fun & More Ticket is $409.21.) Not only do you save more by choosing the 5-Day Park Hopper Plus Option, but what's even better is that you get additional visits to the water parks or other activities. Now that’s a value!

Lots of Options with the Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket

Let’s look at the 6-Day Park Hopper Plus Option. If you use the Plus Visits on separate days, you would have something different to do for 12 whole days within a 14-day period. You can also use a Plus Visit on the same day that you go to the main parks. You can also use more than one Plus Visit in a day. See? The possibilities go on and on.

Here are some other examples of how to use the Park Hopper Plus Option.

Example One: Go to Epcot from park opening until about noon. Then head to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and cool off in Castaway Creek for a few hours during the hottest part of the day. Go back to your hotel room for a quick rest and change of clothes. Then head to Magic Kingdom around 6:30 p.m. for the nighttime parade and fireworks show. (You’ll have used one day and one Plus Visit.)

Example Two: Spend the first two days of your visit to Disney World in the theme parks. On your third day, spend the morning at Disney's Blizzard Beach. Head back to the hotel in the late afternoon and then hop over to Disney Springs in the evening for dinner and shopping.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Disney Park Hopper Plus Option

Here are the most frequently asked questions around the Park Hopper Plus Option.

Can I visit a Disney water park or golf course before I've gone to the theme parks with the Park Hopper Plus Option?

Yes, you can. Your ticket will be validated whether you start your visit at a theme park, water park or golf course. Your ticket expires 14 days after the date of first use.

Can I have more than one plus visit in a day?

Yes, if you're ticket has enough plus visits, you can. For example, if you had two plus visits, you could visit Disney's Blizzard Beach in the morning and then hop over to Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course in the early afternoon.

How does the 1-Day Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket work?

The 1-Day Park Hopper Plus Option is the only one of the tickets that offers more plus visits than days in the theme parks. To make it a value for guests, it offers two plus visits! If you purchased this ticket, you would get one day at a theme park and then two plus visits to be used within that 14-day period of ticket activation.

How do I use the Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket for Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course?

Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course is a 9-hole, par-36 walking course that is fun for the whole family (there are junior tees for younger golfers). You need to make a reservation for a tee time, which does require a credit card to hold the reservation. If you have the Park Hopper Plus Option ticket, you simply present it when you get to the course, and your credit card will not be charged. Note that you can only play one round on the course per day with the Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket.

Hi new to the park hopers world !

We really want to visit animal kingdom and Hollywood Studios and of possible but not a must Epcot so if we got a 2 Park h + can you do all 3 parks and the water parks say one day do Hollywood then the next animal and Epcot or would we need a 3 Park h + ? Thanks

Hi Stace!

A 2-day park hopper ticket will give you plenty of time to visit Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot - although you likely won't be able to ride every attraction and see every show. A 3-day park hopper would be ideal! If you want to do waterparks as well, we would recommend 4 or more days.

Is there a 1 Day Park Hopper Plus option?

We will be in Orlando for a very short visit & are planning to visit Animal Kingdom for one day only.

We would like to try Typhoon Lagoon & are looking for the most economical option. What is your recommendation, any discounts possible? It looks like we have to just purchase the Typhoon Lagoon tickets separately.

Hi Danielle,

If you are only wanting to Disney's Animal Kingdom for that one day and then Typhoon Lagoon another, then we would recommend purchasing a 1-Day Magic Your Way Ticket and then purchasing the Typhoon Lagoon ticket. It depends on what day of the week/time of year you are going if the 1-Day Magic Your Way ticket will be cheaper or more expensive! The Magic Your Way Tickets are cheaper than the Park Hoppers. Hope this helps!

I have a question regarding fast passes and the park hopper plus option. If I have a 5-day hopper plus, how many days in advance of my visit can I request fast passes if I'm staying off site? For example, since my ticket will be good for 10 days, even though I'm not planning to use it until October 20, can I make fast pass reservations beginning September 15? I'll be visiting the parks beginning on the 20th but want to know whether I can take advantage of using five days prior for fast passes since technically my park ticket will be valid for 10 days. I'm not worried about days afterward, as I'm only in Orlando for 8 days total. Make sense? Thanks!

Aug 22, 2017 at 10:48 a.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Lisa,

You may make FastPass+ reservations 30-days prior to the day you plan on entering a park. You'll need to do this multiple times, since you're visiting for 5 days.

I can not find any info on actually hopping (getting around) from park to park. We are staying off property. If you pay at Epcot in the am, hop to AK in the afternoon, then MK in the pm, is your parking ticket valid or do you need to pay again. What is the best way to travel from park to park when staying off property.

Reply
Jul 12, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Julie,

You don't have to pay for parking at each park. Once you've paid, you're good for the day and can park at any of the four Disney parks. You can also use the Monorail, boat or bus transportation between the parks if you prefer to leave your car at one parking lot. Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot are connected via Monorail, Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios are connected via boat and Disney's Animal Kingdom Park is connected to the other parks via bus.

Yes, it’s the same ticket. It’s just there is no longer a water park option with the Magic Your Way ticket.

Hi! We were wondering if the "fun visit" attractions allowed re-entry on a given day or if it charges a second visit. For example, if we go to Typhoon Lagoon in the AM, head to the resort room for lunch and a nap, can we go back to Typhoon Lagoon in the PM on the same visit?

Hi Dustin,

Entering and re-entering a water park on the same day would count as one Fun Visit!

Hi! We've purchased the 4 day park tickets with the water park fun and more options! We do not have park hopper. Can we go to Magic Kingdom Day 1, Epcot Day 2, Animal Kingdom Day 3, Hollywood Studios Day 4 and go to Typhoon Lagoon Day 5? Will we be able to do other water park and more options Day 6, 7 and 8 because we purchased a 4 day park ticket?

Thank you for helping explain this! :)

Hi Jess,

Yes, if you visit Theme Parks Days 1-4, then 5-8 will be Fun Visits for the water parks, mini-golf and such.

I have the park hopper & water park option. Can I go to eat breakfast at Epcot, then go to Blizzard Beach for the afternoon, then Magic Kingdom at night? Would that be just a 1 day usage?

Yes, as long has you have the park hopper option.

What does "before 4pm" mean for the mini golf? If we get there 3:59 do we still get our free entrance...or do we have to be finishing our mini golf game at 4?

Hi Chris,

Yes, as long as your game starts before 4 p.m., you're good to go. FORE!

With the water park and more option, can we visit both water parks? Or only one or the other?

Reply
Jan 13, 2017 at 2:35 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Al,

You would need two fun visits on the ticket to visit the two water parks. Example - if you visited Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon on the same day, you'd use two fun visits.

Hello, If I decide after purchasing my park hopper tickets to upgrade to add the water parks, will the price be the same as if I had purchased the water park extra originally?

Hi Laura,

Yes, it will the same price as if you purchased the water park extra ticket the first time. To have the best chance of preserving your savings, you should use the ticket at least one time before upgrading it.

So, if we are arriving on a Saturday, can we use our mini golf tickets the day before we use our park tickets? Or would this technically begin our ticketing days, therefore using up one of our main park passes.

In other words, if we have a 7 day pass, but only visit the mini golf park on day 1 BEFORE ever going to a main park, would we then only have a 6 day pass left?

Hi Carr,

Yes, you can use it the day before you arrive. Your seven day pass would include seven days visiting the theme parks and seven fun visits within a 14-day period.

We are going to Disney World in June. We will be going to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon and would like the hopper feature. Which ticket would you recommend?

Hi Teresa,

You would need the Park Hopper + Water Park Fun & More Ticket for however many days you wish to visit. You can see all of our ticket options here.

Thanks!

Hi! Our family is staying 8 nights at a Disney resort. We bought a Magic Your Way package with hotel / theme parks/

/ dining plan, and we added Water Park Fun to our package. If we use some of the water park visits during our 8 days at the resort, then check out of the resort and stay somewhere else, can we still use the rest of our water park visits as long as we are within the 14 days of first use--even if we are staying somewhere else in Orlando? In other words, would our magic bands still grant us access to the water parks, even if we aren't staying on Disney property anymore and are past the dates of the package we purchased? I would appreciate your help!

Hi Chrys,

Yes, you can. Technically, though, it is your ticket that offers the entitlements. You can use the ticket or MagicBand interchangeably, though, for entry.

Hola !! Tenemos entradas Five (5) Day Magic Your Way Ticket with Water Park Fun & More Option.

Me dieron un número de confirmación para cambiar por las entradas en uno de los parques.

¿ Podemos ir el primer día a un parque de agua y canjear las entradas en el mismo?.

Muy bueno el blog. Muchas gracias !!
