A Quick Guide to the Disney Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket

by Mommy Frog on March 23, 2018 363

Mommy Frog's Note: Walt Disney World has stopped selling the Water Park Fun & More Ticket and will no longer offer a water park option with Magic Your Way. It has a new similar Park Hopper Plus Option that allows park hopping and visits to the Disney water parks.

We frogs love nothing more than splashing around the pond on a sunny, summer day. Leap sometimes goes all out and creates his own impromptu water slide out of an oversized banana leaf, so Tad and Lily can splash about when it's too hot to do anything else. Of course, we still love visiting a real water park, especially in Orlando, where it's summer practically year-round. Even in winter, at least one of the Disney water parks is open and all of its the pools are heated. So no matter when you plan to visit, there is Disney water park fun waiting for you. The best thing is that adding on the Disney water parks is quite reasonable from a cost perspective. Disney has introduced a new ticket type, the Park Hopper Plus Option, that includes the water parks ... and more. Disney's Water Park Fun & More Ticket has been discontinued. Disney Water Park Fun and More Ticket - Disney Water Park - Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

Guide to Disney Park Hopper Plus Option

Admissions & 'Plus Visits'

The Disney Park Hopper Plus Option allows you admission to one or more of the four main parks (Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney’s Hollywood Studios® and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park) for the number of days on your ticket. It also includes the same number of Plus Visits, which are admissions to ...

  • Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park
  • Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
  • One round of golf at Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course (tee time reservations required and subject to availability)
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports (some events require additional admission, valid only on event days)
  • Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course (one mini golf visit per day before 4:00 p.m.; cannot be used on the same day as Disney's Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course)
  • Disney's Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course (one mini golf visit per day before 4:00 p.m.; cannot be used on the same day as Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course)

Value of Disney's Park Hopper Plus Option

Disney Water Park Fun and More Ticket - Disney Water Park - Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

As the Frog Family CFO, I’m always looking for the best value, so let’s do the math on the Disney water parks savings …

A current 5-Day Park Hopper adult ticket from Undercover Tourist is $469.23 (including tax)*. A single day adult Disney Water Park ticket is $69.23. For five days hopping at the main theme parks and one day at a water park, your total cost would be $538.46. A 5-Day Park Hopper Plus Option adult ticket from Undercover Tourist is $486.65* and includes five days hopping in the theme parks and five plus visits. Not only do you save more by choosing the 5-Day Park Hopper Plus Option, but what's even better is that you get additional visits to the water parks or other activities. Now that’s a value!

Lots of Options with the Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket

Let’s look at the 6-Day Park Hopper Plus Option. If you use the Plus Visits on separate days, you would have something different to do for 12 whole days within a 14-day period. You can also use a Plus Visit on the same day that you go to the main parks. You can also use more than one Plus Visit in a day. See? The possibilities go on and on.

Here are some other examples of how to use the Park Hopper Plus Option.

Example One: Go to Epcot from park opening until about noon. Then head to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and cool off in Castaway Creek for a few hours during the hottest part of the day. Go back to your hotel room for a quick rest and change of clothes. Then head to Magic Kingdom around 6:30 p.m. for the nighttime parade and fireworks show. (You’ll have used one day and one Plus Visit.)

Example Two: Spend the first two days of your visit to Disney World in the theme parks. On your third day, spend the morning at Disney's Blizzard Beach. Head back to the hotel in the late afternoon and then hop over to Disney Springs in the evening for dinner and shopping.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Disney Park Hopper Plus Option

Here are the most frequently asked questions around the Park Hopper Plus Option.

Can I visit a Disney water park or golf course before I've gone to the theme parks with the Park Hopper Plus Option?

Yes, you can. Your ticket will be validated whether you start your visit at a theme park, water park or golf course. Your ticket expires 14 days after the date of first use.

Can I have more than one plus visit in a day?

Yes, if you're ticket has enough plus visits, you can. For example, if you had two plus visits, you could visit Disney's Blizzard Beach in the morning and then hop over to Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course in the early afternoon.

How does the 1-Day Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket work?

The 1-Day Park Hopper Plus Option is the only one of the tickets that offers more plus visits than days in the theme parks. To make it a value for guests, it offers two plus visits! If you purchased this ticket, you would get one day at a theme park and then two plus visits to be used within that 14-day period of ticket activation.

How do I use the Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket for Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course?

Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course is a 9-hole, par-36 walking course that is fun for the whole family (there are junior tees for younger golfers). You need to make a reservation for a tee time, which does require a credit card to hold the reservation. If you have the Park Hopper Plus Option ticket, you simply present it when you get to the course, and your credit card will not be charged. Note that you can only play one round on the course per day with the Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket.

Hi, I'm looking to purchase the 2 day hopper plus option. I'm just a little confused about the plus and days. If I go to Disney world parks the first two days and I use my plus option to go to a water park on the 3rd day then? Many thanks!

Hi Fiona,

If you purchase the 2-Day Park Hopper Plus Option, then yes, you'll receive two days at the Disney parks and then two plus visits to the water parks. Each visit at a water park counts as a plus visit. So if you decide to visit both Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Disney's Blizzard Beach in the same day, then you'll have used up both of your plus visits. Hope this makes sense!

We wanted to do the same thing but keep in mind the Magical Express takes a bit of time if you are coming in that way. The water parks close early. I think 6:00. So you may not have much time by the time you get there. We are bringing our swim suits in our carry on luggage as checked luggage usually follows a few hours later when it shows up in your room. We checked out the pools at all of the other resorts.........and we plan to go to the one we like best for the rest of that first day. Disney Springs in the evening......Enjoy! We can't Wait!

Just wanted some clarification before I bought tickets for our trip. We are planning to go for 6 days with the Hopper Plus option. From what I understand, we are allowed to hop to the different parks on one day including water parks. However, it seems like you can’t visit two water parks on the same day as this would take away from another one of the days to do so. Am I correct, or is there an unlimited amount of time you can use for one day? Sorry, I’m still a little confused on the concept. Thanks!

Reply
Jun 12, 2018 at 1:43 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Chrissy,

Water park visits count as "Plus Visits", so you can most definitely visit the two water parks on the same day, but they will count as two different plus visits! With a 6-Day Park Hopper Plus Option, you'll receive 6 days of park hopping between the four Disney parks (Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Disney's Animal Kingdom) and 6 plus visits to the Disney water parks and golf courses. So any time you use one of your plus visits to the water parks or golf courses (no matter if you visit multiple in the same day), each is counted as a visit. For an example, say you visit Disney's Typhoon Lagoon in the morning (that'll count as one plus visit) then hop over to Disney's Blizzard Beach for the afternoon (that'll count as another plus visit); you'll have used up 2 of your 6 plus visits in one day and will have 4 plus visits left. Hope this makes sense!

Reply
May 31, 2018 at 2:27 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Marcus,

For a 2-Day Park Hopper Plus Option, you'll receive two plus visits that can be used at the water parks and miniature golf courses. Whichever you choose, it'll count as one visit. So if you visit the water parks for two days (one park each day), then you'll have used up your two plus visits. Hope this makes sense!

Hi Heather,

You'll want to check out the 3-Day Park Hopper Plus Option ticket! This ticket allows you to park hop between all 4 main Disney parks for 3 days, as well as 3 plus visits to the water parks. This ticket allows you the most options and the best bang for your buck. You could also look into purchasing a 2-Day Park Hopper ticket and then purchasing a single water park ticket. We think the plus option is the better choice, though!

That answer is not the same as some of the ones above. Here you are saying you have to do it all within the four days. Above, you stated that if you have a 4 day hopper + ticket, you could do four days of parks and then four days of water parks, adding up to 8 days of activities within a 14 day period. Which is it?

Hi Rachel,

If you have a 4-Day Park Hopper Plus Option, you receive 4 days at the main theme parks. You also receive 4 visits to the water parks, ESPN World Wide of Sports and the miniature golf courses. You can use a plus visit on the same day you visit the main theme parks (so you're using two days in one day). Or you can spread it all out and use your 4 plus visits on different days, which would total out to 8 days with your 4 days of main theme park visits. Hope this clarifies things.

Several years back we did the military special and water parks and more and we were able to spread the visits over several months so we used some on one trip and the rest a few months later. It seems like now we might only have 14 days to use them now. Is that right.

Hi Glenda!

That is correct. You must use all of your discounted days of tickets within two weeks of first use.

Hello!

My family and I have five day passes with the park hopper. I didn’t realize the student include admission to blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon.

Can our tickets be upgraded for one day so that we could go to one of the water parks or do we have to buy the park admission separately for that day?

Thank you!

Hi Kimberley,

Yes, you can upgrade the tickets at any of the Disney parks' ticket windows, Guest Relations locations or lobby concierge at Disney Resort hotels!

Hi new to the park hopers world !

We really want to visit animal kingdom and Hollywood Studios and of possible but not a must Epcot so if we got a 2 Park h + can you do all 3 parks and the water parks say one day do Hollywood then the next animal and Epcot or would we need a 3 Park h + ? Thanks

Hi Stace!

A 2-day park hopper ticket will give you plenty of time to visit Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot - although you likely won't be able to ride every attraction and see every show. A 3-day park hopper would be ideal! If you want to do waterparks as well, we would recommend 4 or more days.

Is there a 1 Day Park Hopper Plus option?

We will be in Orlando for a very short visit & are planning to visit Animal Kingdom for one day only.

We would like to try Typhoon Lagoon & are looking for the most economical option. What is your recommendation, any discounts possible? It looks like we have to just purchase the Typhoon Lagoon tickets separately.

Hi Danielle,

If you are only wanting to Disney's Animal Kingdom for that one day and then Typhoon Lagoon another, then we would recommend purchasing a 1-Day Magic Your Way Ticket and then purchasing the Typhoon Lagoon ticket. It depends on what day of the week/time of year you are going if the 1-Day Magic Your Way ticket will be cheaper or more expensive! The Magic Your Way Tickets are cheaper than the Park Hoppers. Hope this helps!

Hi! Is this correct: If I purchase a 2 day park hopper plus ticket, I can go the different theme parks for the first two days, and then go to typhoon lagune for the whole third day and blizzard beach on the fourth day?

Hi Yoselin!

The 5-day Park Hopper Plus includes 5 days at the four main parks, and 5 days of water parks (one water park per day.) It's up to you if you want to overlap these!

Can you play both Winter and Sumer courses at Winter Summerland on the same day (before 4 pm) or are you limited to only one course per day with Park Hopper Plus?

Hi,

If you wanted to do both courses in the same day, you need to use two plus visits.

I have a question regarding fast passes and the park hopper plus option. If I have a 5-day hopper plus, how many days in advance of my visit can I request fast passes if I'm staying off site? For example, since my ticket will be good for 10 days, even though I'm not planning to use it until October 20, can I make fast pass reservations beginning September 15? I'll be visiting the parks beginning on the 20th but want to know whether I can take advantage of using five days prior for fast passes since technically my park ticket will be valid for 10 days. I'm not worried about days afterward, as I'm only in Orlando for 8 days total. Make sense? Thanks!

Hi Lisa,

You may make FastPass+ reservations 30-days prior to the day you plan on entering a park. You'll need to do this multiple times, since you're visiting for 5 days.

I purchased a 4 day ticket with plus but we are staying 9 days. If I understand correctly we can use the plus any time during those 9 days. Does the same go for park entry or must the visits take place on 4 consecutive days?

Hi Diana,

Your theme park visits do not have to be consecutive. Your ticket expires 14 days after the date of first use.

Hi, I bought six 4-day water park & more tickets about 2 years ago now, but they have discontinued that ticket type, Will they still honor my tickets or do I have to update them, or did I just end up wasting my money then?

I'm sorry if this is obvious but am is it correct that if I buy a 6 day park hopper plus ticket I will receive 6 plus days? If it were a 7 day hopper plus, 7 plus days? Also can I use more than one plus day in a single day? Example, mini golf and a water park?

Thanks so much!

Hi Pam,

Yes. 6 or 7 day Park Hopper Plus tickets gives you the same number of plus days. You may use more than one plus visit per day.

Quick question: we are staying 5 nights and purchased the 4 day park hopper plus tickets. Can we use them to go to the waterpark the morning of arrival (already completed online check in), and then head to our resort? And spend the next 4 days "hopping" the parks?

I have purchased the 1 day park hopper plus ticket. Does this mean I can visit a water park 1 day, Magical Kingdom the next day, and then another water park the 3rd day? Am I reading it correctly with the 1 day plus 2 additional visits?
