A Quick Guide to the Disney Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket

Psst. Psst. Have you heard the news? Walt Disney World has changed its ticketing options, and we're hoppy to be offering discounts on date-based and flexible-date tickets. Read here for more details on all the changes and how to choose the right Disney ticket. Ready to save? Here are a few of the most popular options:

Don’t froget, no matter which ticket you choose, we can save you some green with our discount Disney tickets.

We frogs love nothing more than splashing around the pond on a sunny, summer day. Leap sometimes goes all out and creates his own impromptu water slide out of an oversized banana leaf, so Tad and Lily can splash about when it's too hot to do anything else. Of course, we still love visiting a real water park, especially in Orlando, where it's summer practically year-round. Even in winter, at least one of the Disney water parks is open and all of its the pools are heated. So no matter when you plan to visit, there is Disney water park fun waiting for you. The best thing is that adding on the Disney water parks is quite reasonable from a cost perspective. We've explained the details of the Disney Theme Park Base Ticket (formerly known as Magic Your Way) and the Disney Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper Option. This post is looking at the Disney Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper Option, which includes the water parks ... and more. (Disney's Water Park Fun & More Ticket has been discontinued.)

Value of the Disney Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper Plus Option

Disney Water Park Fun and More Ticket - Disney Theme Park Ticket with Water Park Plus Option - Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

As the Frog Family CFO, I’m always looking for the best value, so let’s do the math on the Disney water parks savings …

A current 5-Day Disney Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper Option from Undercover Tourist is $449.43 (including tax)*. A single day adult Disney Water Park ticket is $69.23 (including tax). For five days hopping at the main theme parks and one day at a water park, your total cost would be $518.66. A 5-Day Disney Theme Park with Park Hopper Plus Option adult ticket from Undercover Tourist works out to $477.68* and includes five days hopping in the theme parks and five plus visits. Not only do you save more by choosing the 5-Day Disney Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper Plus Option, but what's even better is that you get additional visits to the water parks or other activities. Now that’s a value!

*Prices are as of October 2018 and subject to change.

Lots of Options with the Disney Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper Plus Option

Let’s look at the 6-Day Disney Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper Plus Option. If you use the Plus Visits on separate days from park visits, you would have something different to do the entire 10-day period. You can also use a Plus Visit on the same day that you go to the main parks. You can also use more than one Plus Visit in a day. See? The possibilities go on and on.

Here are some other examples of how to use the Disney Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper Option.

Example One: Go to Epcot from park opening until about noon. Then head to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and cool off in Castaway Creek for a few hours during the hottest part of the day. Go back to your hotel room for a quick rest and change of clothes. Then head to Magic Kingdom around 6:30 p.m. for the fireworks show. (You’ll have used one theme park day and one Plus Visit.)

Example Two: Spend the first two days of your visit to Disney World in the theme parks. On your third day, spend the morning at Disney's Blizzard Beach. Head back to the hotel in the late afternoon and then hop over to Disney Springs in the evening for dinner and shopping. (You’ll have used two theme park days and one Plus Visit.)

Frequently Asked Questions About the Disney Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper Plus Option

Here are the most frequently asked questions around the Disney Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper Plus Option.

Yes, you can. Your ticket will be validated whether you start your visit at a theme park, water park or golf course. Your ticket must be used during the valid use period.

Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course is a 9-hole, par-36 walking course that is fun for the whole family (there are junior tees for younger golfers). Buying a 9-day park hopper plus pass. Can I golf Oak Trail only once during trip on the pass, or once per day (up to 9 times?).

Hi Glenn!

You can make up to 9 "plus" visits, golf course included :) In theory, that means you could go once a day as long as you aren't making any other "plus" visits (i.e., to the water parks)!

Hi, 3 of us will have 10 day park hopper plus passes.

Can we go the 4 theme parks for days 1-10 and then use the plus visits for Oak Trails/Waterparks/Mini golf for days 11-15?

Also we will have 1 family member joining us on day 11. They will not have a ticket, but will they be able to pay separately for a round of golf at Oak Trails and a visit to Typhoon Lagoon at the same time as us using our "plus" tickets?

Hi Caroline!

This plan should be toadally fine! It doesn’t matter how/in what order they use the visits, as long as they use them by the ticket’s expiration date (which will be clearly stated). Your family member will be able to pay separately for golf and Typhoon Lagoon, as well :) Have fun!

Hi There - I just called Disney and they told me that the park hopper plus option does not allow for a visit to the waterpark on separate days - I was told that these options must be used on the same day as you visit one of the main 4 parks. IE - if you buy a 2 day pass (that includes 2 waterpark options) you would have to visit the waterparks on the same two days that you go to the main parks. Do you know if this is true, or if I was misinformed?

Reply
Jul 31, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Katelyn!

You should be able to use the water park visits on another day (we also called to confirm, though like you noted, sometimes the answers can vary depending on which cast member you speak to!) Based on what we know, as long as you use the plus (or water park) visits within the expiry period (so, within four days of your first visit on a two day hopper plus) you should be good to go!

Hi, one quick question.

I will go to Disney World Augst 13 to 19. I already bought a 5 day ticket with Park Hopper. My plan was to visit just the theme parks. But now I want the last day of my trip visit one water park half day and a theme park the other half. Like this:

1st Day - Epcot

2nd Day - Hollywood

3rd Day - MK

4th Day - Animal K

5th Day - Typhoon Lagoon / Hollywood.

We are 2 adults and 1 child (6yrs).

I was thinking to buy a one day water park ticket, and it will cost around 200dls, is there a cheaper option? Can I upgrade the tickets to Park Hopper Plus? I will only use it the last day.

I will apreaciate your answer.

Thanks

To make sure I am understanding correctly. I am planning a trip for June 2020. I want to go to the theme parks 4 days and take 2 days for the water parks. Let's say I go to Epcot the first day, Blizzard Water Park the 2nd day, Animal Kingdom the 3rd day, Hollywood Studios the 4th day, Typhoon Water Park the 5th day, and Magical Kingdom the 6th day. Would this be possible with the 4 day Park Hopper Plus tickets? Assuming that we only leave the water parks once each day (since we can visit 4 times with the 4 day ticket)

Reply
Jul 8, 2019 at 12:21 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Sue!

FastPass+ is a skip the line benefit. You're able to book 3 in advance per person per day. However, you'll need to link the additional ticket to make FastPass+ reservations for your entire party, so we'd suggest purchasing the ticket now, then making a My Disney Experience account if you haven't already. You can then link the tickets to your account and reserve your FastPasses! Once you arrive at the park, you'll scan your ticket or MagicBand at the FastPass entrance to the ride or show, allowing you to wait in a shorter line (generally 15 minutes or less). Once your initial three advance reservations have been used, you can reserve even more same-day at an in-park kiosk or using the My Disney Experience app. You can find more about the FastPass+ service here.

I have the 5 day park hopper plus. If I leave the water park and come back to the same water park later in the day, would that count as another plus day, or is it like the parks where you can come and go as often as you like in one day?

Reply
Jul 8, 2019 at 1:23 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Carol!

The "Plus" visits do work a little differently in that they count by visit rather than by day - so leaving and returning would count as two "Plus" visits to the water parks, as you noted.

Are the plus options only valid for the three days on that ticket? If I wanted to go to the parks for my three day park hopper could I still get into the waterpark on the fourth day even if I already used all three day park tickets? Or would I need to extend to a four day ticket to enter the waterparks on the fourth day? We wouldn’t be using the plus options for the first three days so is it worth it to purchase the plus ticket?

Hi, we were at DW during Presidents Week, 2019. We had a one day park hopper plus, flex ticket. We thought it would be good for one day of park hopping plus 2 days of water parks. Turned out that it was not. The one day park hopper plus now only gets you one additional day of water parks (or whatever extra you choose). We were comped at Blizzard Beach b/c I complained that the change had nor been well advertised. Just wanted to make you aware of this. I havent seen much talk about it...thanks!

Hi Mark!

Yep, this is no problem with a base ticket. If you are thinking about a Park Hopper, you'd be able to visit any of the four parks on any day (as in, Magic Kingdom in the morning of Day 1, Animal Kingdom in the afternoon of Day 1; Hollywood Studios in the morning of Day 2, lunch at Animal Kingdom on Day 2, dinner at Magic Kingdom on Day 2; etc.) A base ticket allows you to visit one park per day, as you outlined; a Park Hopper lets you hop from park to park as you please :)

Hi Kathrine,

That's correct -- the Park Hopper Plus allows you to visit the four theme parks, plus the two water parks! The days in the park do not have to be consecutive, either, so you can take some time to hang by the pool or rest up in between park visits (though they do have to be used within a certain amount of days from the ticket's start date).

Hi Bethany,

Great question! The Park Hopper Plus tickets will give you access to all four theme parks, plus the two water parks. From there, it just depends on how many days you'd like to allocate to your visit (since you can hop from park to park on this particular ticket if you'd like to do some splashing by day and some thrill rides by night).

Need some clarification on my plans for a June Trip using Park Hopper Plus. Have been to Disney MANY times so we are not worried about doing everything in the parks. However, my family and I are staying off property for 7 days and at Disney Springs Hotel for 4 days. I would like to maximize the days there using a 4 day Park Hopper plus starting June 4th expiring June 11th. Could we use the Park Hopper Plus in the following manner:

Day 1: Parks

Day 2: Water Park

Day 3: Water Park

Day 4: Parks

Day 5: Parks

Day 6: Water Park

Day 7: Parks

Day 8: Water Park

In short, would I get 8 days of access to Parks (4 days) and Water Parks (4 separate days not visiting the Theme Parks).

Hi, I'm looking to purchase the 2 day hopper plus option. I'm just a little confused about the plus and days. If I go to Disney world parks the first two days and I use my plus option to go to a water park on the 3rd day then? Many thanks!

Hi Fiona,

If you purchase the 2-Day Park Hopper Plus Option, then yes, you'll receive two days at the Disney parks and then two plus visits to the water parks. Each visit at a water park counts as a plus visit. So if you decide to visit both Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Disney's Blizzard Beach in the same day, then you'll have used up both of your plus visits. Hope this makes sense!

Hey! Just a heads up that you cannot visit both water parks in the same day with the plus ticket.

Hello, I have complimentary tickets that say 2 day park hopper w/3 fun visits. Are the fun visits the water park ? If so is it for 3 days? If it’s not then what exactly are “fun visits”

Hi Patti!

Yep! As we outline in this post, you get quite a few options for "fun" visits that most guests tend to use at the water parks.

If I purchase a 5 day park hopper plus ticket, on the sixth day can I use the Plus visit on a 6th day? Or could I go to the parks for 3 days and then use a plus visit and still have 2 remaining days to visit parks?

Hi Courtney!

You can use your "plus" visits in any order! You can even use one before hitting the main theme parks.

We have a free dining package with park hopper plus tickets with checkin at art of animation on August 8 but are getting into Orlando on the 7th and staying at a Disney springs hotel. We wanted o go to the water park on the 7. Would we be able to do that even though we don’t check in to our hotel for our package till the next day?

We wanted to do the same thing but keep in mind the Magical Express takes a bit of time if you are coming in that way. The water parks close early. I think 6:00. So you may not have much time by the time you get there. We are bringing our swim suits in our carry on luggage as checked luggage usually follows a few hours later when it shows up in your room. We checked out the pools at all of the other resorts.........and we plan to go to the one we like best for the rest of that first day. Disney Springs in the evening......Enjoy! We can't Wait!

Hi,

Based on a quick weekend trip, we've purchased the 1 day park hopper plus option. We plan on Animal Kingdom in the morning, and Magic Kingdom at night on day one.

Can we use the plus visits to the water parks on the next days or must they be used the same day as our theme park visit?

Thank you

Just wanted some clarification before I bought tickets for our trip. We are planning to go for 6 days with the Hopper Plus option. From what I understand, we are allowed to hop to the different parks on one day including water parks. However, it seems like you can’t visit two water parks on the same day as this would take away from another one of the days to do so. Am I correct, or is there an unlimited amount of time you can use for one day? Sorry, I’m still a little confused on the concept. Thanks!

Jun 12, 2018 at 1:43 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Chrissy,

Water park visits count as "Plus Visits", so you can most definitely visit the two water parks on the same day, but they will count as two different plus visits! With a 6-Day Park Hopper Plus Option, you'll receive 6 days of park hopping between the four Disney parks (Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Disney's Animal Kingdom) and 6 plus visits to the Disney water parks and golf courses. So any time you use one of your plus visits to the water parks or golf courses (no matter if you visit multiple in the same day), each is counted as a visit. For an example, say you visit Disney's Typhoon Lagoon in the morning (that'll count as one plus visit) then hop over to Disney's Blizzard Beach for the afternoon (that'll count as another plus visit); you'll have used up 2 of your 6 plus visits in one day and will have 4 plus visits left. Hope this makes sense!

We just bought the 2 day park hopper plus option. Looking to 2 full days at the parks and the 2 days at waterpark 1 day at each. Are we still able to play at the 2 miniature golf courses and schedule a tee time or are we only able to use the plus option for 1 extra activity?

Reply
May 31, 2018 at 2:27 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Marcus,

For a 2-Day Park Hopper Plus Option, you'll receive two plus visits that can be used at the water parks and miniature golf courses. Whichever you choose, it'll count as one visit. So if you visit the water parks for two days (one park each day), then you'll have used up your two plus visits. Hope this makes sense!

Hi! We are a family of five, going to be at DW for 3 full days. Want to hit all 4 parks (half day each) and 1 half day at the water park (BB). What’s the best option price wise (all of us are over 12yo). We are not staying on the property. Thanks for your help!

Hi Heather,

You'll want to check out the 3-Day Park Hopper Plus Option ticket! This ticket allows you to park hop between all 4 main Disney parks for 3 days, as well as 3 plus visits to the water parks. This ticket allows you the most options and the best bang for your buck. You could also look into purchasing a 2-Day Park Hopper ticket and then purchasing a single water park ticket. We think the plus option is the better choice, though!

since staying off-site we do not receive magic bands but are purchasing them from the disney store. How do we receive the coupons for the mini golf?

Hi Joe,

Greetings!

We have purchased the 7 day park hopper plus tickets. We will check into Animal Kingdom Lodge on a sunday (dvc points), but will be in the area a few days before and would like to go to the water parks before our actual hotel stay. Will this mess up our reservation or tickets in anyway. Hotel and tickets are separate from each other...not a package.

THANKS!

My husband would like to use one of his plus visits to play golf at Disney oaks. Please advise what charges are involved in this option. ..what are the current green fees? What is the cost to hire golf clubs (we are coming from South Africa and don't want to bring clubs for 1 game)? What other charges are there? What is the dress code for playing golf? Any other hidden rules we should know about before selecting this option as a plus day

I got the 4 day park hopper plus and will be going to the 4 main parks Saturday - Tuesday. I'm checking in to the resort Friday afternoon, but my flight gets in at 8am Friday. Can I go to a water park Friday before I check in? I got my magic bands and the mini golf and espn vouchers, bit don't know where the water park tickets are. Are they on the magic band? Is it water proof? Or do I have to wait until after I go to my first main park visit?
