A Quick Guide to the Disney Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket

by Mommy Frog on February 23, 2017 271

Mommy Frog's Note: Walt Disney World has stopped selling the Water Park Fun & More Ticket and will no longer offer a water park option with Magic Your Way. It has a new similar Park Hopper Plus Option that allows park hopping and visits to the Disney water parks.

We frogs love nothing more than splashing around the pond on a sunny, summer day. Leap sometimes goes all out and creates his own impromptu water slide out of an oversized banana leaf, so Tad and Lily can splash about when it's too hot to do anything else. Of course, we still love visiting a real water park, especially in Orlando, where it's summer practically year-round. Even in winter, at least one of the Disney water parks is open and all of its the pools are heated. So no matter when you plan to visit, there is Disney water park fun waiting for you. The best thing is that adding on the Disney water parks is quite reasonable from a cost perspective. Disney has introduced a new ticket type, the Park Hopper Plus Option, that includes the water parks ... and more. Disney's Water Park Fun & More Ticket has been discontinued. Disney Water Park Fun and More Ticket - Disney Water Park - Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

Guide to Disney Park Hopper Plus Option

Admissions & 'Plus Visits'

The Disney Park Hopper Plus Option allows you admission to one or more of the four main parks (Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney’s Hollywood Studios® and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park) for the number of days on your ticket. It also includes the same number of Plus Visits, which are admissions to ...

  • Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park
  • Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
  • One round of golf at Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course (tee time reservations required and subject to availability)
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports (some events require additional admission, valid only on event days)
  • Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course (one mini golf visit per day before 4:00 p.m.; cannot be used on the same day as Disney's Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course)
  • Disney's Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course (one mini golf visit per day before 4:00 p.m.; cannot be used on the same day as Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course)

Value of Disney's Park Hopper Plus Option

Disney Water Park Fun and More Ticket - Disney Water Park - Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

As the Frog Family CFO, I’m always looking for the best value, so let’s do the math on the Disney water parks savings …

A current 5-Day Park Hopper adult ticket from Undercover Tourist is $446.95 (including tax)*. A single day adult Disney Water Park ticket is $66.03. For five days hopping at the main theme parks and one day at a water park, your total cost would be $512.98. A 5-Day Park Hopper Plus Option adult ticket from Undercover Tourist is $483.24* and includes five days hopping in the theme parks and five plus visits. (A 5-Day Water Park Fun & More Ticket is $409.21.) Not only do you save more by choosing the 5-Day Park Hopper Plus Option, but what's even better is that you get additional visits to the water parks or other activities. Now that’s a value!

Lots of Options with the Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket

Let’s look at the 6-Day Park Hopper Plus Option. If you use the Plus Visits on separate days, you would have something different to do for 12 whole days within a 14-day period. You can also use a Plus Visit on the same day that you go to the main parks. You can also use more than one Plus Visit in a day. See? The possibilities go on and on.

Here are some other examples of how to use the Park Hopper Plus Option.

Example One: Go to Epcot from park opening until about noon. Then head to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and cool off in Castaway Creek for a few hours during the hottest part of the day. Go back to your hotel room for a quick rest and change of clothes. Then head to Magic Kingdom around 6:30 p.m. for the nighttime parade and fireworks show. (You’ll have used one day and one Plus Visit.)

Example Two: Spend the first two days of your visit to Disney World in the theme parks. On your third day, spend the morning at Disney's Blizzard Beach. Head back to the hotel in the late afternoon and then hop over to Disney Springs in the evening for dinner and shopping.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Disney Park Hopper Plus Option

Here are the most frequently asked questions around the Park Hopper Plus Option.

Can I visit a Disney water park or golf course before I've gone to the theme parks with the Park Hopper Plus Option?

Yes, you can. Your ticket will be validated whether you start your visit at a theme park, water park or golf course. Your ticket expires 14 days after the date of first use.

Can I have more than one plus visit in a day?

Yes, if you're ticket has enough plus visits, you can. For example, if you had two plus visits, you could visit Disney's Blizzard Beach in the morning and then hop over to Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course in the early afternoon.

How does the 1-Day Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket work?

The 1-Day Park Hopper Plus Option is the only one of the tickets that offers more plus visits than days in the theme parks. To make it a value for guests, it offers two plus visits! If you purchased this ticket, you would get one day at a theme park and then two plus visits to be used within that 14-day period of ticket activation.

How do I use the Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket for Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course?

Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course is a 9-hole, par-36 walking course that is fun for the whole family (there are junior tees for younger golfers). You need to make a reservation for a tee time, which does require a credit card to hold the reservation. If you have the Park Hopper Plus Option ticket, you simply present it when you get to the course, and your credit card will not be charged. Note that you can only play one round on the course per day with the Park Hopper Plus Option Ticket.

I have a question regarding fast passes and the park hopper plus option. If I have a 5-day hopper plus, how many days in advance of my visit can I request fast passes if I'm staying off site? For example, since my ticket will be good for 10 days, even though I'm not planning to use it until October 20, can I make fast pass reservations beginning September 15? I'll be visiting the parks beginning on the 20th but want to know whether I can take advantage of using five days prior for fast passes since technically my park ticket will be valid for 10 days. I'm not worried about days afterward, as I'm only in Orlando for 8 days total. Make sense? Thanks!

Aug 22, 2017 at 10:48 a.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Lisa,

You may make FastPass+ reservations 30-days prior to the day you plan on entering a park. You'll need to do this multiple times, since you're visiting for 5 days.

I can not find any info on actually hopping (getting around) from park to park. We are staying off property. If you pay at Epcot in the am, hop to AK in the afternoon, then MK in the pm, is your parking ticket valid or do you need to pay again. What is the best way to travel from park to park when staying off property.

Hi Julie,

You don't have to pay for parking at each park. Once you've paid, you're good for the day and can park at any of the four Disney parks. You can also use the Monorail, boat or bus transportation between the parks if you prefer to leave your car at one parking lot. Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot are connected via Monorail, Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios are connected via boat and Disney's Animal Kingdom Park is connected to the other parks via bus.

Hi Al,

You would need two fun visits on the ticket to visit the two water parks. Example - if you visited Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon on the same day, you'd use two fun visits.

So, if we are arriving on a Saturday, can we use our mini golf tickets the day before we use our park tickets? Or would this technically begin our ticketing days, therefore using up one of our main park passes.

In other words, if we have a 7 day pass, but only visit the mini golf park on day 1 BEFORE ever going to a main park, would we then only have a 6 day pass left?

Hi! Our family is staying 8 nights at a Disney resort. We bought a Magic Your Way package with hotel / theme parks/

If we use some of the water park visits during our 8 days at the resort, then check out of the resort and stay somewhere else, can we still use the rest of our water park visits as long as we are within the 14 days of first use--even if we are staying somewhere else in Orlando? In other words, would our magic bands still grant us access to the water parks, even if we aren't staying on Disney property anymore and are past the dates of the package we purchased? I would appreciate your help!

En ese caso que tendríamos que hacer y que boletos comprar?

No, this wouldn't work. A 1 day hopper ticket will only give you one fun pass, used on Day 2. You would have to pay for your trip to the water park on Day 3 out of pocket.

Do people go to the waterparks in Feb? 3 out of 8 of our party wants to go to play golf. Since Disney quest isn't part of this anymore, I am trying to decide if it is worth it to pay the "and more." But with out the waterparks I am not sure it is worth it. Now the Disney website is vague it says that golf is form $20-40 for adults. So if they did two rounds of golf then it could be any where from $40-80 per person. One is a twelve year old so I don't know if he is an adult by the golf course standards. Thanks,

Hi Ess,

Yes, people go to the waterparks in February. The pools and water are heated. For most tadpoles, this is fine, but for me, I like the pond to be a little warmer ;) The 12-year-old would be considered an adult.

So sorry... I want to make sure I am not overspending. We have been to WDW a few times, so we really just want to sit back and relax this time around. We will be there June 11-June 18 with a 4-day park hopper, staying at Caribbean Beach. Would it make more sense if we just bought the water park ticket since we probably won't go mini golfing or anything else and we will probably stay at the parks or go back and rest in our own pool?

Thanks for your help!

Adding the WP&M option to a park hopper is actually cheaper than a 1-day water park ticket.

Hi Erica,

That really depends on how many days you want to visit the water park. Often, it's still cheaper to buy the Water Park Fun & More ticket. You definitely get more value our of the WPF&M if you will use the fun visits even a couple of times.

Would you recommend we get a waterfun & more ticket with the park hopper option for 3 days. Will this give as flexibility to the parks and are they all close to main gate where I will be staying?

Hi Adele,

Park Hoppers are a good option for your visit since it is a shorter, but keep in mind that you are visiting during the very busiest time of year and hopping will be more time consuming and you might run into temporary park capacity issues. Whether you add the Water Park Fun & More option on is up to you, but keep in mind again that it will be very busy and you have a fairly short time to explore the parks, especially if this is a first visit.

I am planning to get the 3 1-day park hopper option + the water park fun and more options. No Park Hopper option.

1. Do I have to go to one of the main parks first before I can go to one of the water parks? Or can I go to the water parks first and then go to the main parks (magic kingdom/epcot/hollowood studios.

2. Can I use up 2 of the water park fun and more options in the same day, even though I don't have the park hopper? For example I visit both water parks in same day.

3. Are the waterparks busy in mid august? Would I be able to do 2 in a day?

To clarify, you will be getting a 3 Day Magic Your Way with Water Park Fun & More? If so, here are the answers:

1. No, you can go straight to the water park first.

2. Yes, you can use more than one fun visit in a day.

3. Yes, the water parks are busy in August, although they would be less busy starting mid-month.

Hope this helps!

Q:

since Waterpark consist of 2 visits per 1 Disneyworld tickets

1) Can we start visiting the Waterpark on June 24 afternoon after dropping off luggages to count as first visit?

2) For the second visit, can we come back on June 29 Monday?

3) Any other suggestion to maximize this visit?

4) What if Grandma wants to see grandkids but cannot be in the water? Does she get a discount?

Hi there,

To clarify, you get the same number of "fun visits" as the days on the ticket. So if you have 3 Day Magic Your Way Fun & More ticket, you would have 3 fun visits that could be used to visit the water parks three times. Unfortunately, there are no discounts for those who don't want to be in the water, so Grandma would have to pay full admission. The scenario you proposed would work, but you would still have an extra fun visit that you could use for a water park, round of mini-golf, regular golf or DisneyQuest.

Hi, From Australia so just checking as we have a family of 9 plus an infant. We are looking at a 4 day Walt Disney World: Water Park Fun & More Tickets. Can you please confirm that this means that we will each get 4 days at Theme Parks (so we can do each Theme Park for one day) PLUS then we will each get 4 fun visits which we can use on different days to go to Water Parks.

Also, some of our family is arriving 4 days after the others. Can some of us use fun visits before the others arrive and then the ones arriving later either not use theirs or use them for something different?

Hi Dianne,

You are correct the 4 Day Fun & More ticket will give you 4 days of visits to the park and then 4 fun visits. For your other family members, they could either opt to not get the Fun & More ticket or they would possibly lose any fun visits they didn't use. It's a really economical ticket, so even just going to the water park for one day with the fun visit would be more economical than purchasing a separate ticket.

You would be able to enter the same water park again on the same day and that would count as 1 "fun visit."

Thank you Mommy Frog.

I plan to utilize the 'fun visits' to visit water parks (typhoon lagoon).

One more question. Does a water park fun visit equate to 1 full day admission at the water parK?

So, if I purchase a 5 day Water Park Fun & More adult ticket, does this equate to 5 full days at theme parks + 5 full days at the water park? So, if don't hop between the parks and utilize an entire day at the park, then will this ticket equate to total of 10 days of visits to both theme parks and water parks? Pretty much it is a 10 day ticket, with a 14 day expiry, right? Please advise.

Hi Sam,

You are correct that the "fun visit" can = a full day admission at a water park if that is how you want to use it (vs. going to DisneyQuest, ESPN Wide World of Sports etc.). If you choose to use it the way you described, then, yes, it would amount to 10 days in the theme parks and water parks.

Hello Mommy Frog and others,

I am planning to buy a 5 day Water park fun and more tickets for a family of 4. I have a question regarding the water park admission. BTW, I will using the 5 full days at the theme parks, however, since the I also have th 5 fun visits, I would like to plan the visits properly.

Ok, now the question.

Since I have 5 fun visits, can I just visit the same water park (Say Typhoon lagoon) for 5 visits (fun visits), instead of other water parks or attractions? So, bottom line, is there any restriction to use 1 fun visit to each attraction ? Please advise. Thanks.

Hi Sam,

Sounds like it is going to be a fun trip!

To answer your question, yes, you could visit Typhoon Lagoon 5 times and let that count as your 5 fun visits. It's up to you on how you want to use the 5 fun visits, so long as it's from one of the fun visit attractions.

Let us know how it goes!

[...] Adding the water park option to your tickets is a great idea. Not only are the water parks fun, but they also allow you to stretch out your vacation!  With Disney’s Water Park Fun & More tickets, you can add on a number of “fun visits” (a visit to the water park or a number of other destinations) to your theme park tickets. For example, a Water Park Fun & More 4 Day ticket gives you four days at the theme parks and four additional “fun visits,” which you could spend at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. Throwing in a couple of water park days among the theme park days will really help you to stretch out the Disney magic while also giving you a chance to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the parks. It also will help you stretch your Disney dollars (check out Mommy Frog’s post that lays out the cost savings). [...]

We are leaving for The World in less than two weeks! We are a family of six, however, only five of us have the yearly pass. My oldest daughter is accompanying us this year for the whole visit, and we were trying to figure out the cheapest way to get her to enjoy the parks, water parks, and Disney Quest. We are going for 9 days so she purchased the five day park hopper and WPF&M pass from Undercover Tourist. The best deal anywhere! Thanks guys!
