Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History

Celebrating and preserving the rich cultural history and legacy of African Americans, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History has been a ribbiting cultural beacon in Detroit’s Midtown for over half a century. Spread out across 125,000 square feet, the museum features permanent and rotating exhibitions. Permanent exhibitions include a comprehensive look at the history of the Middle Passage and Civil Rights Movement, a photomontage of local Motor City artists that gained national and international fame and larger-than-life art pieces that help to memorialize iconic African Americans throughout our nation’s history to raise the voices and spirits of these influential changemakers.
