For any parent planning a trip to Walt Disney World, giving your child that magical experience is always a priority. At Disney especially, this can come with a hefty price tag. Naturally, many parents are looking for ways to cut costs without sacrificing experience, and accommodations are one way to do this.

Caravan parks, as the British call them (RV parks or campgrounds to Americans), are a cheaper alternatives to traditional resort accommodations and offer many of the same amenities in an outdoor setting. Here is a look at a few of the campsites in and around Walt Disney World and the surrounding theme parks.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

Covering more than 700 hundred acres of ground, this impressive destination is right in the heart of Florida and one of Walt Disney World’s own camping grounds. This means there will be plenty of activities to keep the children entertained and various activities for adults as well – all within easy distance of the park’s main attractions and rides.

Fort Wilderness includes four types of campsites, including premium campsites that can accommodate everything from tents to 45-foot and longer vehicles with up to 10 guests.

The benefits to Disney guests for staying at the resorts are many, and those benefits extend to those staying on the campgrounds as well.

Sherwood Forest RV Resort

Comprised of more than 500 hundred cottages and sites, this is the perfect place to camp for those planning a family holiday to Walt Disney World. The resort comes with plenty of features and amenities, including a heated pool and games such as shuffleboard and miniature golf, ensuring that you get a luxurious and relaxing stay. This resort is located in Kissimmee, 4 miles from Walt Disney World and 12 miles from Universal Studios.

Orange Grove Campground and RV Park

Located just 15 minutes from Walt Disney World, this campsite is in the ideal location for those who want to be close to the action. There are plenty of amenities at this site, including a heated swimming pool, outdoor sports and games facilities, and a children’s play area. This site supports both trailer and tent rentals as well as offering all the necessary services for those visiting in their own touring caravan.

Tropical Palms Resort & Campground

Three miles from the iconic theme park, the Tropical Palms resort is in another ideal location. The park hosts numerous activities for children, including treasure hunts and outdoor sports, making it ideal for those who want to keep their children occupied at all times. Themed dinners and activities are also provided, making this a truly magical place to stay. This site caters to those looking for rentals and those touring the country in their own caravan or RV.

Have you stayed at any of these sites? Let us know what you thought of them!
