Hi there! Welcome to our weekly roundup of the most interesting theme park news around the Walt Disney World Resort, the Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando and other theme parks.
Here Are This Week’s Theme Park Highlights:
- Make a wish! Disney released a brand-new poster art collection to count down to the debut of Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway at Disney's Hollywood Studios on March 4, 2020. We snorkeled alongside the dynamic duo and spied them underwater in a previous poster. And now, in the latest release, Mickey and Minnie can be seen smooching near a wishing well in "Wish Upon a Coin," inspired by the popular cartoon short. Aww. We are so excited to see the lovebirds in action in a few short months!
- Forbes named Orlando, Fla. one of the top 25 places to visit in the U.S. in 2020! And we can't blame them ... there are so many exciting things to come in 2020! From Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, to Universal Orlando's Bourne Stuntacular, to SeaWorld's Ice Breaker, Orlando theme parks are gearing up for a toadally fun year. Don't worry: Your favorite frogs have compiled a list of what's coming to all of the parks so that you don't miss a single detail. Check out our posts on what's coming to Disney World and Universal Orlando and what's coming to Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood for the full scoop on 2020 (and beyond). Buckle up, because 2020 is going to be a frogtastic year!
- It's officially 2020, and Minnie Mouse is ready to party in style (as usual)! Minnie Mouse herself will be honoring beloved Disney Parks attractions around the world. A new limited-release collection from the series Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction will be released on the third Saturday of each month throughout 2020, and will feature attraction-themed goodies such as Minnie Mouse ear headbands, plush toys, pins, mugs, mini backpacks, Loungefly hip packs and MagicBands. First up: Space Mountain, in honor of the attraction's 45th anniversary at Magic Kingdom! Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction items will be available at Disney Parks around the world, the Disney Store and online at ShopDisney.com. Oh boy!
- Out with the old, in with the new! At SeaWorld Orlando, the One Ocean show has officially ended. Now, in 2020, guests can enjoy the new educational presentation, Orca Encounter. (For guests who have visited SeaWorld San Diego, you may have already caught a showing!) The presentation focuses on killer whales' role in the ocean ecosystem, their behaviors in the wild and the importance of conservation.
- If you'll be running into 2020, or are hoping to lace up your sneakers more in the new year, Universal Orlando Resort has you covered! In preparation for Universal's Epic Character 5K and 10K Race, the resort posted some hopful tips to get you ready to sprint towards that finish line. We are toadally cheering for you, frog friends!
- The Oregon Ducks and Wisconsin Badgers made a stop on their way to the Rose Bowl at the Happiest Place on Earth this week! Mickey Mouse welcomed the teams to a press conference at Disneyland Resort in the Opera House on Main Street, U.S.A.
That’s it for the theme park news this week! Have a great weekend.
Hoppy planning!
