The Diamond Mad T Party is not your grandma’s tea party. This rocking celebration is one of the coolest spots to be in Disney California Adventure. Travel down a misty rabbit hole toward the lights, music and thumping party — stopping to refresh with adult or kid-friendly beverages where it says Drink Me of course — to join Alice, the White Rabbit, and an edgy Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum duo in rocking the night.
Every night from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. the Mad T Party Band is out there playing great music and providing entertainment in a loungy “Tim Burtonesque” Wonderland set in the Hollywood Land back lot. The Mad T Party was revamped to celebrate Disneyland’s 60th birthday Diamond celebration.
Who Would Enjoy the Diamond Mad T Party?
Guests young and young at heart can party here, as long as they like music. It might be a bit loud for babies or kids who don’t enjoy loud music. The music ranges from today’s hits to classics and favorites from the 80’s and 90’s. When the band takes a break the party doesn’t miss a beat, as the White Rabbit DJ keeps the tunes playing. The punkish Tweedles and friends provide energetic dance entertainment on another stage so the crowd can move between stages like a music festival.
For the little ones, there are giant Flamingoes to interact with (costumed people on stilts), face painting and giant decks of cards for building. The House of Cards area is set just far enough from the stage to enjoy the music but to have fun at a toddler- or kid-friendly noise level; yet you’re still part of the action.
The lounge area has fun seats, air hockey, and a food truck, appealing to tweens, teens, and really anyone wanting to sit down and relax, which is just what a Mommy and Daddy Frog need after a long day in the park. Lily loves dancing with other kids and building a giant house of cards, while we sip drinks and watch her and the colorful entertainment. We also enjoy playing air hockey with Tad and hopping around to the music near the stages. The Frog family can find something for each of us to stay entertained until it is time to move on to the next celebration.
We often listen to the Mad T Party music while we eat gourmet hot dogs from one of our favorite nearby quick-service restaurants, Award Weiners, before we move on to other Diamond Celebration nighttime shows like World of Color or go park hopping over to Disneyland for the Paint the Night parade or Disneyland Forever fireworks. As the sun goes down, the party revs up, so whether you are there with your kids or on a date, get ready to celebrate like it’s Disneyland’s 60th birthday at the Diamond Mad T Party!
