Does a little person in your life just love Tinkerbell? Do YOU just love Tinkerbell? These easy DIY Tinkerbell shoes are perfect for a Tinkerbell costume, or for a day of walking around your favorite Disney park.
DIY Tinkerbell Shoe Supplies:
- white canvas shoes
- green dye (I used Rit Kelly Green)
- large white pompoms (buy or make with yarn)
- glue gun
- bucket large enough to fit the shoes
Remove laces from the shoes. You can dye them, but they don't pick up the color very well. Mine just turned pale green. Add enough hot water to your container so the shoes will be completely covered. Pour in about 1/4 cup of the green dye and stir with a paint stick (or something else that you don't care if it gets dye on it). You can also add 1/4 cup salt which can help the shoes absorb the color.
Push shoes down into the dye bath, along with the laces if you're dying then. Swish around a bit for 5-10 minutes. Remove the shoes and rinse thoroughly. The dye mixture is still good if you have something else you want to dye. Otherwise, rinse down the sink (and clean up any drips immediately.) Allow the shoes to dry. Stuffing them with paper towels and changing those out over the next few hours helps a lot. When they are completely dry, attach a pom pom to each shoe top with hot glue. And have fun with your new Tinkerbell shoes!
