Everyone's favorite sisters, Anna and Elsa, made the move from Disneyland Park at the end of 2014 to coincide with the debut of Disney California Adventure's limited-time "Frozen Fun" offerings. As you might expect, the sisters are VERY popular, and one of the top destinations inside the park. So knowing the inside scoop before you head to the park to meet them is key.
If you're headed to the Disneyland Resort between now and summer 2015, you are in for an extra special treat! During this time, you can experience "Frozen Fun," which includes the very first-ever Olaf meet-and-greet, a snow play area, the debut of "For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration" and a Frozen family dance party. Still, for your "Frozen" fans, meeting Anna and Elsa should be your top priority as they are the hottest ticket in the park. Today we wanted to offer our tips to help you meet Anna and Elsa at Disneyland.
How to Meet Anna and Elsa at Disneyland Resort
The sisters of Arendelle now reside in their royal digs at Disney Animation inside Disney California Adventure. This is a permanent move, and Anna and Elsa's Royal Welcome is the only way to meet Anna and Elsa at Disneyland. If you want to meet them, you absolutely must make this your first stop inside the park right when it opens. You'll need to arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of park opening, and even more during busier times. While park opening procedures may vary, generally a handful of the very first guests to arrive at Anna and Elsa's Royal Welcome will be allowed to queue for the sisters. Everyone else will need to get Fastpasses.
There is no standby queue, and these Fastpasses go quickly! So it is imperative that you arrive early. You'll need everyone's park tickets in order to get Fastpasses, and we recommend that you send only one person to get them. It's also worth nothing that the Fastpass return time window is 20 minutes instead of the usual hour, so you really need to keep track of the time. The good news is that of this writing, the Anna and Elsa Fastpass is unconnected from the rest of the system, meaning you can hold a Fastpass for the meet-and-greet concurrently with another Disney California Adventure Fastpass.
There is yet one more factor consider in your quest to meet Anna and Elsa at Disneyland, and that is whether you are staying onsite or off. Guests staying onsite at a Disneyland hotel can enter Disney California Adventure one hour earlier than the official opening time on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. If you are not staying on property, we recommend you choose a different day to meet Anna and Elsa because you will already be behind all of the early-risers even if you arrive for the official park opening.
Experiencing Anna and Elsa's Royal Welcome
We absolutely love meeting the sisters, especially Lily, and one of the most awesome things about Anna and Elsa's Royal Welcome is that they often meet together. When they are together, it makes for awesome photo ops and more spontaneous conversations with the duo — especially chatty Anna! This is not the case at Disney World, where they are in the same room, but meet guests individually. Now, the reason we say often is that we have read reports that sometimes only one sister is present! There is no way of knowing when this will happen or a way to plan for it, so keep your fingers crossed.
Meeting Olaf at Disneyland
For the first time in forever, the summer-lovin' snowman is greeting guests inside "Olaf's Snow Fest," which is nearby Anna & Elsa's Royal Welcome at Stage 17. He is also popular, but not as popular as Anna and Elsa. Disney uses a pager system for guests who want to meet him. For the lowest waits come early.
You'll definitely want to spend some time inside "Olaf's Snow Fest," which will remain open through May 15. There is a huge snow play area that is a big hit with kiddos. They can also glide down the snow slide while listening to The Frolicking Fjords and The Tubadors, then you can all pick up some "Frozen" treats.
'For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration' Heads to California
The super-popular, sing-sensational sing-along featuring Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf has taken over Muppet*Vision 3D — at least during the limited-time "Frozen Fun — inside Hollywood Land. The show is very similar to its comedic counterpart at Disney World and expected to run through May 15. Normally, there are quite a few showtimes throughout the day. Fastpasses are recommended, although they are not required.
'Frozen' Evening Delights
When the sun goes down, the "Frozen Fun" doesn't stop. You can head to "Freeze the Night! A Family Dance Party" and chill out at this Hollywood Land hangout, where there will be music, dancing, food and fun through May 15!
More Frozen Fun at Disneyland Park & Downtown Disney
Even though Elsa and Anna will be meeting at Disney California Adventure, you can still catch some Frozen fun at Disneyland Park. At Fantasy Faire in Disneyland Park, you experience the "Frozen" story as told by the witty Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones. Elsa, Anna and other fair maidens join along in this open-air tent right next to Sleeping Beauty Castle! You can also catch Anna and Elsa at Disneyland in Mickey's Soundsational Parade, which features the sisters atop their pre-parade special float. Plus, look for views of Arendelle, including the stately castle where Anna and Elsa grew up, Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post, and Elsa’s mountaintop ice palace, among the scenes in the Storybook Land Canal Boats.
For more winter fun, lace up your skates and visit "Olaf's Frozen Ice Rink" in the Downtown Disney Winter Village. The rink offers 60-minute skating sessions from 3-10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 3-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It will run through Feb. 22.
While you're there, don't forget to stop by Anna & Elsa's Boutique in the Downtown Disney District. Little Annas and Elsas can get the royal beauty treatment, with hair, makeup and wardrobe options inspired by the film. There is even an Olaf-inspired package for boys.
All in all, there is no better time to meet Anna and Elsa at Disneyland Resort and experience all of the "Frozen Fun!"
