Overview of Empower Field at Mile High

Empower Field at Mile High hosts the Denver Broncos NFL team as well as other popular sporting events and concerts. The venue is also known as New Mile High or Mile High Stadium (formal names include Broncos Stadium, Invesco Field at Mile High and Sports Authority Field at Mile High). The current stadium opened in 2001, replacing the original Mile High Stadium, and has continued to sell out for every Broncos home game since.

While primarily used for football, many concerts are held at this location throughout the year — with well-known artists such as Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan and Taylor Swift gracing the stage. Mile High’s seating capacity is about 76,000 for Denver Broncos games, though this number can increase for non-sporting events. The record attendance is 85,233 for Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour in 2023.

For Denver Broncos games, the Mile High Stadium parking lots open four and a half hours before kickoff. The exception is Lot C, which allows tailgating typically as early as six hours prior. Lot C opens at 8 a.m. for 2:05 p.m. and 2:25 p.m. kickoffs, 12 p.m. for 6:15 p.m. & 6:20 p.m. kickoffs, and at 1 p.m. for 7 p.m. preseason games.

Parking typically costs $40, though cars with four or more people may get a carpool spot in Lot A for $30. Parking may be purchased in person with a credit card (no cash accepted).

Off-site parking options include Ball Arena, Aurora Campus, Denver Aquarium and Riverside Church. Parking spaces at these facilities are sold from $15-$30 and open up to the public approximately 4 hours before kickoff.

Mile High Stadium Seating

The stadium has three main tiers — the 100s, 300s and 500s. Section 100 is closest to the field while 500 is up top. Seat selection is, of course, based on budget and personal preference. Do you need a straight-on view or prefer a unique angle from the end zone? Are you looking to be on the home or visitor's side of the field? There are lots of factors to consider when choosing your seat.

If you choose to sit in one of the 100-level sections, row 30 is conveniently situated near the entrance tunnel, and its elevation offers great sightlines. If you choose to sit in the 300-level section, enjoy a great view of the field and nearby endzone, as well as the largest video board at the stadium which sits above the section at the opposite endzone. The 500-level sections are heavily exposed to the elements; however, sections on the west side (503-513) will be shaded first.
