Willie Nelson & Family Overview
One of the main figures of outlaw country, Willie Nelson is one of the most recognized artists in country music. Upon growing weary of the corporate Nashville music scene he had attempted to succeed in since 1960, he moved to Austin, TX in 1972 where he became motivated by the city's burgeoning hippie music movement. The following year, he formed a new backing band consisting of members of his old road band, "The Record Men." Nelson's popularity soared in Bat City as he played his own brand of country music, influenced by folk and jazz. The touring and recording group became known as "Family" and is full of longstanding members today. Nelson & Family tour North America in the bio-diesel bus "Honeysuckle Rose," which is fueled by "Bio-Willie."
In 2023, Nelson won two Grammy Awards for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Album and released his five-part documentary, "Willie Nelson and Family," at the Sundance Film Festival. He also performed two concerts at the Hollywood Bowl to celebrate his 90th birthday and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The "Outlaw Music Festival" tour kicks off on May 13, 2025 in Phoenix, AZ, and wraps on Sept. 19, 2025 in East Troy, WI. The tour consists of a few different lineups of some major artists such as Bob Dylan and Sheryl Crow.
