SeaWorld San Diego Launches New Family-Friendly Roller Coaster, Arctic Rescue

Hi there! Welcome to our weekly roundup of the most interesting theme park news around the Walt Disney World Resort, the Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando and other theme parks.

Weekly News Roundup - Arctic Rescue

  • A new family-friendly straddle coaster called Arctic Rescue is now open at SeaWorld San Diego! Experience the latest chills and thrills as you hop on a "snowmobile" ride vehicle, and navigate three launches with speeds up to 40 mph. Claiming the title of the West Coast's longest and fastest straddle coaster, Arctic Rescue is inspired by the SeaWorld Rescue Team's efforts.
  • In case you missed the buzziest news of the week, Disneyland Resort announced more details about this year's Halloween Time, including Oogie Boogie Bash dates. The spooky season will run from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, 2023, with the separately ticketed event, Oogie Boogie Bash, taking place on select nights starting Sept. 5 through Halloween night. If you want to attend, mark your calendar — tickets go on sale to the general public starting June 29, no earlier than 9 a.m. PT, and can sell out quickly.

  • It's Jurassic June! Universal Destinations & Experiences is celebrating the 30th-anniversary of "Jurassic Park" at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. We think that the Jurassic Park tribute store at Universal Studios Florida is one of the main highlights with its incredibly immersive rooms filled with replica props, merchandise, treats and even life-size dinosaur models. Check out our full walkthrough video of the Tribute Store!
  • Disney Parks Blog shared a behind-the-scenes look at the musical development for the upcoming attraction, Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Disney Imagineers are collaborating with award-winning artists, PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard, who are creating an original song and the musical arrangement for the queue, respectively. Disney also teased a first look at some of the new Audio-Animatronics that will be featured in the attraction, including Prince Naveen's brother, Ralphie.
  • Starting today, June 2, a new water short, "Elemental Connection," will play ahead of World of Color - ONE at Disney California Adventure Park for a limited time. It will highlight the story and characters from Disney and Pixar's newest film, "Elemental," which debuts in theaters June 16.

That’s it for the theme park news this week! Have a great weekend.

Hoppy planning!

Patti Cullum Says...

I just visited Orlando for the first time ever. We stayed in walking distance to Disney Springs. My daughter and I visited at least 5 times during our 1 week stay. I personally was not impressed. Everything was over priced (even to this Canadian) and very crowed. Sometimes you could barely move there were so many people. The restaurants that we ate in ranged from Ok, to poor (Best to worst) Terralina, Trex, Earl of Sandwich and The chicken guy) I wasn't impressed and won't be back.
