During the 2023 first-quarter earnings call for The Walt Disney Company, CEO Bob Iger stated that a new "Avatar" experience will be coming to Disneyland! Exact details were not shared, and no further updates were given until March 2024. During the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, Iger shared another small but significant update: "We have one 'Avatar'-based land, Pandora, in Florida. We're going to put a second one in California." Instead of calling it an experience, this is the first time it has been described as a land. However, in the most recent update as of April 2024, Bob Iger shared a first look at the "inspirational artwork developed for a potential new 'Avatar' experience at Disneyland Resort" during the Walt Disney Company 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
Well, folks, it's officially confirmed! During the 2024 D23 Disney Experiences Showcase, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro revealed the project has been green-lit, and will be coming to Disney California Adventure Park in the future (no exact timeline given yet). While Pandora in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park at Disney World explores the floating mountains from the first film, this experience will venture further into Pandora with a new destination inspired by "Avatar: The Way of Water" and future "Avatar" films.
