As Hurricane Milton nears Florida, both Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort have announced theme park closures over the next few days.
Is Disney World Closed?
Disney World will close due to Hurricane Milton:
- On Oct. 9, the Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs will close in phases beginning at 1 p.m.
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 1 p.m.
- Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close at 2 p.m. Parking garages at Disney Springs will also close at 2 p.m. and remain unavailable during the storm.
- The theme parks and Disney Springs will remain closed on Thursday, Oct. 10.
- This includes the cancellation of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom Oct. 10. Event tickets will be refunded 100%.
- For partially used multi-day tickets, ticket expiration dates will be adjusted to expire on Oct. 11, 2025.
- Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9. They are likely to remain closed until Sunday, Oct. 13.
- Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating Wednesday, Oct. 9 after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.
- Minnie Van service will be available until 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, and limited Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests.
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10. Disney’s Blizzard Beach remains closed for planned refurbishment.
- There are no events planned for ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex until the weekend.
- Pre-paid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.
Is Universal Closing for Hurricane Milton?
Yes. Due to Hurricane Milton, Universal Orlando Resort will be closing:
- On Wednesday, Oct. 9, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Universal CityWalk will be open until 2 p.m. and will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 10. (*Note: Hours of operation are subject to change based on forecast alterations and some attraction and experience availability may be limited on Wednesday in preparation)
- Universal Volcano Bay will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
- Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida is canceled for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
- Hotels remain operational as they focus on taking care of guests.
Universal Orlando anticipates a full reopening, including Halloween Horror Nights, on Friday, Oct. 11 at normal operating hours pending the outcome of storm impacts.
