There is nothing like the moment when our tadpoles walk up to get measured for a ride at a theme park and discover they have finally grown tall enough to ride! Ribbit, ribbit! But then there are the times when they are so close but get turned away at the last minute with all their hopes and dreams dashed by lacking that quarter-inch! Croak! That’s why before we visit a theme park such as LEGOLAND, we do a little pre-planning and research the park's height requirements. We look for safe and realistic rides that our tadpoles can ride without any unexpected rejections. Here's exactly how your party stacks up at LEGOLAND California so you can be toadally prepared for your awesome day!
Our Guide to LEGOLAND California Height Requirements and Parent Swap
Our tween, Tad, is now tall enough for everything in LEGOLAND Park, but our toddler, Lily, has room to grow (and she’s a bit sensitive about it too). Doing our research in advance helps us know which rides to avoid and when we need to direct her attention elsewhere to rides we know she can ride and enjoy. Being prepared with knowledge on LEGOLAND California height requirements is just one part of building a perfect day at LEGOLAND.
What we learned recently with Lily is that even if she is old enough and tall enough to ride, that does not mean she is mentally or emotionally ready to ride. A recent trip on Emmet's Flying Adventure in the all-new LEGO Movie World stunned Leap, Tad and myself with toadally cool surprises, 3D effects and the feeling of riding a flying couch. We loved it so much! For Lily, it was a bit too realistic. She was worried that she would fall and that the animals would get her. On the other hand, other kids the same height as her were perfectly fine on the ride. All kids are different, so you'll need to assess whether your tadpoles are ready to take on a new thrill ride. After riding, Lily informed us that Queen Watevra's Carousel and Fairy Tale Brook were more her speed after all. Noted.
There's no need to force your kids to ride. Some LEGOLAND attractions offer Parent Swap for families with tadpoles who do not measure up or are not old enough to ride (or are just not ready to ride). All members of your party wait in line together. When you reach the front, just let the ride operator know you want to use Parent Swap. When the first riders' turn is over, the parents may switch places and then the other parent can ride with the older child. That saves you from waiting in line twice, and your older kid may get to ride twice! Win-win!
Many rides have a minimum height requirement, but a few rides have a maximum height requirement. Sorry, parents and bigger kids! Also, as noted, a few rides have age requirements as well as height requirements, and some just have age requirements. The below list includes LEGOLAND California Water Park height requirements as well as LEGOLAND California height requirements for rides and attractions in case you'll be making a splash there too.
