Disney Introduces New Lightning Lane Premier Pass for Disney World and Disneyland

by Leap on February 10, 2025
17 Los Angeles

Hop off the press! Disney has launched a new Lightning Lane Premier Pass option at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts. The pass allows one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane experience without any reservations so you can enjoy at your leisure. Basically, you can ride the Lightning Lane attractions you want, when you want — and it doesn't matter whether they're normally Single Pass or Multi Pass attractions. That said, the Premier Pass is not replacing the Single Pass and Multi Pass options (they continue to operate the same as usual), and free traditional standby lines are always still available. Lightning Lane Premier Pass has launched in very limited quantities.

There are some slight differences in use between the two resorts, so let's dive into the details!

Lightning Lane Premier Pass at Disney World

  • As of Jan. 21, 2025, Lightning Lane Premier Pass has rolled out with limited quantities available for all guests(When initially launched, it was only available to Disney Deluxe & Deluxe Villa hotel guests, and then rolled out to all Disney Resort hotel guests on Nov. 22, 2024.)
  • Guests of Disney Resort hotels and other select hotels can purchase Lightning Lane Premier Passes up to 7 days in advance of the first day of their resort stay — for their entire length of stay (up to 14 days) — starting at 7 a.m. Eastern Time, just like the Lightning Lane Single and Multi Passes. Other guests can purchase up to 3 days in advance.
  • You can only purchase a Lightning Lane Premier Pass for one theme park per day. It includes all Lightning Lane experiences in the theme park. You can combine the Premier Pass with Multi Pass and Single Pass if you want to ride some attractions more than once, but you only purchase one Premier Pass at one park each day.
  • Pricing varies by demand based on the date and theme park. At launch, prices range from $129 to $449 (per pass, plus tax), with the highest prices falling on a limited number of days over peak travel times. Guests can view pricing in the My Disney Experience app before purchasing.
  • Lightning Lane Premier Pass includes free digital downloads of select attraction photos and videos, as well as Disney PhotoPass lenses.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass at Disneyland

  • On Oct. 23, 2024, Lightning Lane Premier Pass rolled out with limited quantities available for any park guest.
  • Guests can purchase Lightning Lane Premier Passes up to 7 days in advance of their park visit, starting at 7 a.m. Pacific Time.
  • The Lightning Lane Premier Pass can be used at both parks in a day, as long as you have the Park Hopper benefit. If you have a 1-Park ticket, then the Lightning Lane Premier Pass can only be used in one park. (Pricing does not vary based on the number of theme parks you visit in a day, so it cannot be discounted or refunded.)
  • Pricing varies by date and demand within a $300 to $449 range, per person. Guests are able to view pricing in the Disneyland app before purchasing.
  • Lightning Lane Premier Pass includes free digital downloads of select attraction photos and videos, as well as Disney PhotoPass lenses.

Hello,

If I purchase tickets via your website but then purchase the Premier Pass through Disney, how far in advance can I purchase the pass: 3 or 7 days?

If I am staying Disney Resort that is purchased via your website, does that change how far in advance I can purchase the premier pass?

Hi NC!

It ultimately depends on if you're staying at a Disney Resort hotel or not - regardless of where you make the purchases. If you purchase tickets only (from Disney or Undercover Tourist), you'd have a 3-day advance window. If you book a Disney Resort hotel (through Disney or Undercover Tourist), you'd have a 7-day advance window. Hotels booked through Undercover Tourist receive the same on-site benefits that you'd get if you were to book directly through Disney.

Hello,

I have an upcoming trip to Disney World later this month. We are doing the whole week at the other Orlando parks and have one day to spend at Disney. We purchased a one day park hopper for that day. Our plan is to go to Hollywood Studios in the morning, EPCOT midday, and then end the night off at Magic Kingdom. I know that's crazy but it's gonna be an action packed day! My question is about the Premier Lightning Lane pass. Do you have to purchase the premier pass for the first park you are visiting and then multi pass for the other parks? Or, can you multi pass the first park and then say premier pass for one of the other parks that are later in the day? Or, premier pass every park that day?

Hi Charles!

You can only purchase one Premier Pass for one theme park per day, so you would have to choose which park you'd like to use it at (but to our knowledge, it does not matter when you plan to visit during the day since you do not have to book any Lightning Lane reservations). Our recommendation for Premier Pass would be Magic Kingdom because there are more rides included (though it is the most expensive compared to all the other parks). If not Magic Kingdom, we'd pick Hollywood Studios over EPCOT for Premier Pass.

You can also purchase Multi Pass to use at the other parks. For Multi Pass, we'd recommend starting with the park you're visiting first so you get your best chance at availability.

If I am reading correctly in Orlando you have to be in a Disney property for the 7 day window but in California it can be anyone with a valid ticket? Is this correct? I am debating if I need to be in a Disney property since it will be NYE and probably very high attendance.

Hi Luisap!

Yes, that is correct. At Disney World, anyone can purchase Premier Passes, but you would need to be staying at a Disney hotel (or the Swan and Dolphin Hotels, Swan Reserve or Shades of Green) to purchase up to 7 days in advance — if staying elsewhere, you can purchase up to 3 days in advance. At Disneyland, anyone can purchase up to 7 days in advance.

Can you combine premier pass and multi pass on the same day to essentially get two lightning lane entries per attraction?

Hi Raghu!

Following up with an update — as of today (Nov. 22, 2024), any guest staying at a Disney Resort hotel (or Swan & Dolphin, Swan Reserve and Shades of Green) can purchase the Premier Pass at Disney World. It is no longer limited to only Deluxe hotel guests.

Hi Raghu!

Yes, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass is a separate purchase, so you would be able to purchase it after getting tickets from Undercover Tourist. It sounds like you're visiting Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando — if that is true, you do need to be staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort (only these hotel guests can purchase during the initial rollout period). But if you're visiting Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, any guest can purchase the Premier Pass at this time.

Hi!

Does anyone know if you can purchase Premier Pass if you have a park hopper ticket???

I know you can only use it at 1 park--but I didn't know if it would let you add it if you have a Hopper ticket?

Will it be simple to purchase this for just a single day or do you have to add it to your whole package (we have an upcoming 3 day trip for example, but I’m considering doing this for one day only). We already have a ticket package booked
