Spring Ahead with Rad Rainbows, Pastels and More Disney World Merchandise

by Mommy Frog on March 4, 2020
Orlando

Get those froggy legs ready to spring forward this Sunday for Daylight Savings time. If losing an hour of sleep makes you feel groggy, we’ve got some fresh Disney World spring merchandise to put some pep in your step. We spent some time browsing the stores across Disney Springs, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Epcot (and even a few resorts) to round up our spring shopping favorites. Spoiler alert: There are lots of pastels, Spirit Jerseys, and the brand new Ink & Paint collection. Let’s hop to it!

Spring Disney World Merchandise

Ink & Paint

Disney World Ink & Paint MerchInspired by Disney Animation, this brand new (and huge!) collection is colorful, full of classic characters and includes a mixture of rough pencil sketches as well as full-blown animated designs. You’ll see it offered in nearly every store you visit nowadays. And just about anything you could ever possibly want to bring home as a Disney World souvenir has been covered in this expansive and adorable cartoon collection: kitchen towels, clothing, Mickey ears, 12 Days of Socks boxes, a paint-your-own blank canvas Mickey doll, plates, napkin rings, a novelty paint tube clutch, light-up magnets, MagicBands … even a magnetic toothpick holder set?

Ink & Paint Dooney & Bourke

Care for the fancier finds? Dooney & Bourke collectors will not be disappointed with leather Ink & Paint totes, crossbody bags, large satchels and wristlet wallets. Any of the Dooney & Bourke bags would pair beautifully with the retro, fit and flare Disney Dress Shop Collection frock that would be perfect for a Dapper Day out. It transitions from black and white sketches to full-color animations with over 40 Walt Disney-era characters within the pattern.

You can’t take two steps through a Disney World park right now without seeing someone rocking the Ink and Paint Spirit Jersey ($69.99). And we get why! It’s so cute. However, you’ll find the paintbrush Ear headband ($29.99) and the Dress Shop Collection dress ($128) MUCH harder to find. (Hence the lack of photos!) Disney Springs will be your best bet for finding either of those — try the Marketplace Co-Op Dress Shop, Disney Style or World of Disney — but if your heart is set on those in particular, we’d suggest ordering online before your vacation adventure starts.

Springtime Pastels

Mickey Pastel Merch at Disney World

Nothing says spring like pastels and flowers, and Disney World does not disappoint in this department this season. There are shades of peach, lavender and pinks are everywhere you look in the merchandise shops these days. Lily’s favorite? The multi-pastel Walt Disney World Spirit Jersey for girls. This Momma Frog’s favorite? The new pink and flowery Spring Ears! There were also plenty of too-too-cute backpacks in pastel hues with sequin or plush accents. These in particular were at The Emporium at Magic Kingdom and Island Mercantile at Animal Kingdom.

Rose Gold at Disney World

You can still also find plenty of pastel’s cousin, Rose Gold, across all of the shops. Even though these aren’t “new” — they debuted last spring — they’re still just as pretty as ever.

Rad Retro Rainbow Wear

Retro Rainbow Merch at Disney World

Get your suitcase ready for a blast from the past. These rainbow-tastic retro items are a HIT this spring. Every time we saw them, there were tons of people milling around, checking them out and trying them on. If Spirit Jerseys aren’t your thing, the 1971 racerback women’s tank top was soft and groovy ($29.99) and the sweatpants were super cozy feeling. (Perfect for lounging back at your air-conditioned resort hotel after a long day on your froggie feet.)

Rain Jackets for March Showers

Character Rain Jackets at Disney World

March showers bring April flowers, but until those buds are in bloom, try on these adorable attraction and character-themed rain jackets. We found these at the Magic Kingdom Emporium, one of the largest shops in all of Disney World. You can’t go wrong with any of the designs, but my personal favorite was the pink and lavender Space Mountain zip-up.

Frogtastic Tip: Don’t let rain stop you from visiting the parks! Orlando is known for its heavy spring and summer afternoon rain showers. And when it rains, it pours. But that rainfall typically makes for delightfully fantastic Park days because they’re inevitably less crowded. Just be sure to pack your Mickey rain poncho. This will give you the most coverage from getting soaked, keeps you free from having to lug around a rain jacket all day (even though the ones above are super cute), and umbrellas — while allowed — can be challenging to maneuver around with in the parks. (Your hands may be full pushing a stroller or you might accidentally poke someone in the face!) If rain is in your park day forecast, this Momma Frog also recommends wearing — or bringing — comfortable flip flops. ‘Cuz there’s nothing worse than a soggy sock-and-sneaker walk around Disney World.

Little Mermaid Baubles from the Betsey Johnson Disney Parks Designer Collection

Betsey Johnson Merch

Zany fashion icon Betsey Johnson has always been all about bold, fun and those “magic in the details” designs. You’ll find all that and more in her brand-new The Little Mermaid spring jewelry collection, which you can find at Ever After at Disney Springs or in select park jewelry shops like Magic Kingdom’s Uptown Jewelers on Main Street USA. No matter which piece you pick up, you’ll find shiny stones and glittery Disney accents, including Flounder and Sebastian charms, sparkling seashells and even dinglehoppers! And no Betsey Johnson piece is complete without her signature heart charm and “BJ” initials.

Betsey Johnson Disney Merch

If you were zooming in on our jewelry photos in search of The Little Mermaid Mickey ears by Betsey Johnson, you sadly won’t find them. That’s because the sequin-y $148 ears completely sold out within a few hours (yes, hours!) on the first day they were offered, both at Disney Springs and throughout Disney Parks. But don’t get your mermaid tail in a twist! Disney promises that more will be available online at ShopDisney.com “sometime in March.” If you really can’t wait, you can find the Betsey Johnson Minnie Mouse ears on ShopDisney for $58. Don’t let anyone tell you that they’re “so last season” (even though they are) because those polka dots are still rockin’! The Betsey Johnson Evil Queen jewelry collection from last fall is also still available, both at the parks and online.

Balloons

New Disney World Balloon Clothing

You had have seen the internet all a-buzz about the new Balloon Spirit Jerseys that debuted last week. We hate to burst your balloon, but the shirts, featuring bubblegum pink puffy letters and pink, purple, yellow and teal 1971-esque colors, have NOT arrived at Disney World yet. So far, they’re only available online. In the meantime, we did find these balloon shorts, visors and baseball hats.

If you hoppen to find yourself on the West Coast, the Disneyland version of the Balloon Spirit Jerseys CAN be found at the parks and at Downtown Disney right now.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Merch

Chuuby at Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway

It wouldn’t be opening day for a new ride without new MERCH! Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway opened this week, and the gift shop at the attraction’s exit was 100% ready for it! You’ll find shirts, ears, Conductor Goofy hats and plush, mystery plush bags, a train whistle, fun mugs, and a plush set that includes Mickey, Minnie and their ADORABLE new feathered friend, Chuuby. (Chuuby the bird is featured throughout the new ride’s animations.) Everyone gathered in the gift shop after the grand opening event was squeezing, hoping and clamoring for Chuuby in their mystery plush bags. Word on the street is that there will soon be a bigger Chuuby plush available, too. (Hint: If you squeeze your mystery bag, Chuuby’s face is the widest of the mystery plushes and he has a soft point on the top of his fuzzy head you should “feel” for.)

Frogtastic Tip: This is your friendly reminder that staying at a Disney World Resort will get you the best chances of snagging FastPass+ for new attractions. By staying on property, you can start booking your FastPass+ selections 60 days in advance. (That’s double the 30-day norm.) For new rides like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you’ll want to set your alarm and be ready to book the moment your booking window date strikes midnight. You do NOT want to miss this oh-so-adorable ride. It’s the first-ever ride to feature Mickey and Minnie (and Chuuby!) and it puts you right into a cartoon short with them. It’s full of surprises, twists, turns and state-of-the-art trackless technology. We give it two froggie thumbs up!

One Last Frogtastic Hint for Disney Springs Shopping

Disney Springs Lime Garage Parking

There’s no better place to window shop, stroll and find both Disney and non-Disney stores full of fun and stylish finds. And the best part? The parking is FREE! Yes, free. The Lemon, Lime and Orange Garages are the most convenient parking options for Disney Springs.

  • Lemon is closest to the World of Disney (aka one of the biggest Disney Stores in the world) and East Side restaurants like Rainforest Café.
  • Lime Garage is in the middle of Disney Springs and puts you out right into Town Center near UNIQLO and The Polite Pig. (An entrance to World of Disney is also still close by to your right.)
  • Orange Garage is on the West Side and its two entrance walkways spill out either right by the AMC movie theater or closer to Splitsville.
  • Favorite feature? There are electronic smart signs at the end of all the parking rows in both Lime and Orange. They indicate how many spots are open on that row (or if that row is already full). Then, when you pull into a row, you’ll easily find a space because they also have little green lights over the open ones. This makes it SO easy!

If Lemon, Lime and Orange are full — which is rare, but it does happen during busy seasons — you can also park across the street and use a walkway to get over the busy Buena Vista Drive or you can park in the non-garage parking lot behind the Cirque du Soleil tent. If that sounds intimidating, don’t worry. It’s really not! But if you’d rather not drive or park, you can also get to Disney Springs via: Minnie Vans, Water Taxis, Disney Resort buses, walking from nearby resorts like Saratoga Springs and valet parking.

We hope you enjoyed this “virtual” spring window-shopping spree. If so, what was your favorite Spring merchandise splurge? Share your comments below! Oh, and be sure to also check out our rundown of where to find Baby Yoda merch.
