Overview of Third Eye Blind and the "Summer Gods Tour"
Upon releasing its self-titled debut album in April 1997, Third Eye Blind was at the top of its game. The band's biggest hit, "Semi-Charmed Life," won a Billboard Music Award for Best Modern Rock Track, and its accompanying music video claimed countless spots on MTV. The same album would go on to be certified platinum six times by the RIAA. The band toured extensively that year to support the album — opening for large acts, such as U2 and The Rolling Stones, before graduating to headliner status. Two years later, the group released a second studio album, "Blue," which also achieved platinum status.
In June 2017, frontman Stephan Jenkins announced plans to release an EP titled "Summer Gods" to coincide with the tour of the same name. However, the EP wasn't ready for release by the end of the tour and the idea was scrapped. Instead, the name was given to a live album release of performances from the tour. Eventually, the band embarked on a major co-headlining North American tour with Jimmy Eat World, titled "Summer Gods Tour 2019." The tour returned for a third rendition in 2022, featuring Taking Back Sunday and Hockey Dad — resulting in a 15,000-ticket sold-out show at Merriweather Post.

For the fourth "Summer Gods Tour," in 2024, Third Eye Blind will be joined by pop-punk and alternative rock band Yellowcard — known for its head-banging double platinum single "Ocean Avenue" — and pop rock and electropop band A R I Z O N A.
