Universal Orlando® Resort has finally given fans tantalizing glimpses inside Escape from Gringotts™, the headlining thrill ride central to the soon-to-be-opened Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ - Diagon Alley™, and until today the most shrouded in mystery.
With the preview today guests can see the exacting details that have gone into this attraction, perhaps none more opulent than the marbled hall of the Gringotts Bank lobby, where the goblins are hard at work.
While all may initially appear well inside the bank, it soon becomes clear that security has been penetrated. Harry, Hermione and Ron have broken in, and the ride picks up just as three have come through the waterfall. From there, guests begin their own adventure, starting with a face-to-face encounter with Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange, who will send them further down into the bank's vault. Along the way, they will face a fire-breathing dragon and ultimately Lord Voldemort on this fully immersive, intense ride experience.
"It's going to be an amazing ride with so many different levels to it," said Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the Potter films. "It's really, it's going to be quite scary, because it's the first time the fans can really kind of experience the evil of Voldermort, and in 3-D I think that will be quite a lot to handle."
Universal has billed Escape from Gringotts™ as a family attraction. As such each of the ride cars will hold 12 passengers. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the height requirement is expected to be 42 inches.
An official opening date for the Escape from Gringotts™ and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ - Diagon Alley™ has not been revealed, although it is will be some time this summer. Universal Orlando® Resort is expected to reveal more details about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ - Diagon Alley™ this week -- so stay tuned!
