FROG FAMILY REVIEW
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort*

What we love

  • Most kid-friendly of the Monorail Resort Hotels
  • One of the most popular hotels, with more repeat guests
  • Beautiful Polynesian theming is a hit with families
  • Boat and monorail transportation to Magic Kingdom® Park
  • Some of the largest standard rooms on property; most rooms sleep up to five with a daybed
  • Terrific on-site dining, including the very popular Kona Grill
  • On-site character breakfast with Lilo, Stitch and other friends at 'Ohana
  • Popular Trader Sam's Grog Grotto offers tropical drinks and an interactive atmosphere
  • One of the best-themed pools on property, recently renovated to add a fabulous water play area for tadpoles and hot tubs for adults
  • Monorail or boat transportation to Magic Kingdom® Park; 5-15 minute walk to Transportation and Ticket Center for monorail transport to Epcot®
  • Few parking lot views; most rooms offer views of the grounds, many, the lagoon, and some, a view of Magic Kingdom® Park
  • Free parking!

Keep in Mind

  • Hotel charges $33 per night (sales tax included) for valet parking
  • Among the most expensive Deluxe Resort Hotels
  • What room you book largely depends on what's important to you, but as a smaller resort, there is less walking
  • Bus services is shared to Disney's Hollywood Studios® and Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park

Notable Facts

  • Underwent recent renovation on the Great Ceremonial House lobby and Lava Pool, and to add deluxe studios and the over-the-water Bora Bora bungalows
  • Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Contemporary Resort share the distinction of being the first Disney hotels to open on Oct. 1, 1971
  • Each of the longhouses are named for Polynesian islands
  • John Lennon signed papers to officially break up the Beatles at the Polynesian on Dec. 29, 1974
  • Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is currently rated as a AAA 4-Diamond resort

Frog Family Tips

  • Take the boat to Magic Kingdom® Park — it's often faster than the monorail, especially during less busy times
  • Try the Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe — it's banana-stuffed sourdough French toast rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with a strawberry compote
  • For a friendly and fun night away from the kids, head over to Trader Sam's Grog Grotto; most drinks are big enough for sharing!
  • Get your Dole Whip fix outside of the park at Pineapple Lanai
  • For standard rooms, request a second floor on Samoa (closest to the pool and the beach) (not all requests are guaranteed)
  • If you want to be closest to Transportation and Ticket Center, select Moorea (resort-view side has standard rooms) (not all requests are guaranteed)

Best For

  • Families, especially larger families, who love the relaxed, island vibe, being close to Magic Kingdom® Park and Epcot®, plenty of dining options and amenities, and don't mind paying for the convenience

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Information

Escape to a South Seas hideaway, with tropical gardens. Friendly people, fun, laughter, and good cheer reflect the enchanting customs and culture of the islands. Torch-lit walkways, a cascading indoor waterfall, and the soothing sound of distant drums beckon with the imagery of paradise found. Aloha.

EXCLUSIVE THEME PARK BENEFITS:
  • Early Theme Park Entry for Resort Hotel Guests - guests of Disney Resort hotels and other select hotels can get a 30-minute jump on their Disney day with early theme park entry—available at all 4 Walt Disney World theme parks—for each day of your stay, subject to capacity
  • Extended Evening Theme Park Hours – guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resort Hotels or Disney Deluxe Villas and other select hotels can enjoy extended evening hours—experiencing select attractions, shops, and dining after regular park hours—in select theme parks on select nights.

Planning to visit a theme park? To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid theme park ticket, for the same park on the same date, are required for Guests ages 3 and up. Keep in mind: a hotel reservation does not guarantee theme park access (though Disney Hotel Guests do have access to a separate pool), and you’ll need a Disney account to make a separate theme park reservation. Prior to booking, be sure to view theme park reservation availability as park reservations are limited in availability and not guaranteed. You can check the reservation availability here.

Face coverings are optional for Guests in both indoor and outdoor locations. However, face coverings are not permitted while experiencing water slides or in the water.

Some imagery shown throughout our website does not represent current operational and safety guidelines.
